If there was a button that would give you $1,000 each time you push it with a 1% chance of dying

You’re assuming it’s accumulative; which makes no sense because that’s not how percentage chances work.

It’s 1% every time you press the button no matter how many times you press it.
Y’all so quick to type a response

So how many times can you roll without losing in a system that has a 1% chance of loss

On average

Just cause you pray to super long odds does it stop the losing roll?

Millions of times :manny:

1% chance is extremely low. You probably got similar odds every time you go for a drive.

Until you pull out a coin and flip it 10 times

Do it

For real

Post results

Why are you using a 10 flip example when there’s only 2 possible outcomes? Of course that’s extremely unlikely (there’s a 0.1% chance that would happen because 0.5^10=0.001). That’s comparable to pushing the button about 690 times before dying (since 0.99^690=0.001)

:dahell:

If that were true, we’d lose 1% of the people who hit the road each day. Chance of death while driving is obviously nowhere near 1%

Probably but I was exaggerating for effect. 1% is a tiny chance.

Every 24 seconds someone dies on the road which is a scary statistic. Nobody thinks twice about jumping in their car though.

But your exaggeration took all meaning away. The overall chance in dying in a car accident is far far far below 1% of the trips you take in cars.

That depends where you live. If you're in a third world country your chances skyrocket.

Now you’re moving the goalposts to 3rd world countries. :snoop:

And even that’s not true...there’s not a country in the world where 1% of the car trips taken result in death. That would be HUGE.
