soccer involves a good amount of athleticism but just like basketball it takes perfecting the skill from a young age but there more of a chance you can get further with less skill and more athleticism.
So if soccer was americas past-time then ya i could def see us being much better i dont see why not. like someone else said they would have be people teaching the small nuances of the game which separates average from good or good from great and so on. Just like it is in baseball basketball or football. we def wouldnt be seeing any dwights or bynums on the pitch those those are jokes
maybe more of the undersized players which arent even that small to begin with. now that i think about it we would be more like england than anything else.

Breh, the next time I meet an Indian that is athletic will be the first time. I'm not trying to disrespect you but I just haven't met one. I've met chinese, filipinos, japanese, and other asians that are non-Indians that were pretty good athletes.

This thread has shown me that there are some questionable minds in here. First of all, population has nothing to do with talent a country puts out on the field (go ask America why they keep getting bounced out of the world cup by Ghana). Secondly, the notion that you can take basketball and football players and just put them on the pitch right now & they'll succeed is comical at best. Most U-23 teams would run them off the field. It's apparent that most of the posters don't watch soccer. For soccer to be most popular in America, it would have to be ingrained in the culture and not seen as a recreational sport for suburban adolescents. Also the arrogance in here is something else. Why do you fools think that athleticism = best. I can't with you guys today. If you were so great we would not even be having this conversation. Eat some humble pie & start to learn how to dribble

you fuks are retarded if you think i was posting that squad from a 'right now standpoint'. I was posting in the hypothetical universe that soccer was the hood sport of choice and the most popular sport amongst kids, teenagers and adults for generations. Then I came up with a squad of athletes who 'imagine this', grew up playing soccer 1st & was taught by a world class youth system. Yall would have to be knocks to think that if america had generations of soccer being the premier sport of choice that we wouldnt be #1 or #2 in the world right now. And 6'8 players? Yes, the rare athletes that we only posses thats 6'8 245 and runs a sub 4.5 40, a 40+inch vert, while having amazing coordination and athleticism. Its all hypothetical brehs, dont take it too seriously and out of context.

If all the running backs, perimeter players in the NBA, defensive backs and linebackers had picked soccer instead of their current sports we'd obviously be a hell of a lot better.
All the best athletes in our country play football or basketball, our soccer program just gets the left overs of people who couldn't make it in those two.
