if you want to talk about good athletes, at least talk about england, germany, etc. historically teams with lots of stamina, power and lots of pace

Especially AAU basketball which have the best young basketball players start playing against each other as early as 8 years old which World Wide Wes control (look him up) and Select baseball where young kids compete all the way up to the little league world series against other countries kids.

The only way it would ever work is if US soccer completely revamped the system it has. That means put kids in professional training at a young age and get good coaching to kids when young. Put youngsters on smaller fields and have 7v7 games to improve ball skills and speed of thought. So many things would have to change in this country for the US to be a really good nation.

Japan took the sport serious around the same time the US started too, but instead of relying on their old system, they brought in coaches from Holland to teach kids the game. Now they have genuine world class players. The best coaches should be at that level, which is not how America operates in any sport except tennis and some other olympic sports.

And the athletes the US have currently are very good. Before his knee injuries, Oguchi Onyewu was very fast and was 6'4" 210 at centerback. Demarcus Beasley was one of the fastest players in the world when he was young and never progressed far because he had no right foot and was a shyt crosser of the ball. There is a kid that plays for a German team who had a top 5 in any sport Nike Sparq test. He cant break into that German team's first 11.

Im not talking about just taking athletes we have now and putting them on some accelerated program, they would lose 100-0. Im talking about 20 years from now, if all the kids that would have been funneled into basketball or football got steered into soccer. I get that Ronaldo is supremely skilled, it's just like any other sport, the dudes who marry skill and athleticism are typically the best.

Fam, Im talking about if the NFL & NBA vanished tomorrow, all our money would be poured into Soccer, and with money comes access to the best trainers/coaches there are. What Im saying is if the infrastructure was there, coupled with the athletes we produce, it stands to reason we would be an absolute problem. Oguchi and Beasley wouldn't make the top 100 in terms of athleticism in the NFL or NBA, you know that, they aren't approaching someone like RG3 who is 6"3 223lbs and much faster.

Athleticism from one sport is not always transferable to other sports.

It's a sport that relies on stamina, speed, agility and jumping ability......How do you dudes watch soccer and not see athleticism on display.

a soccer academy student goes to academy, of say, barcelona and spends half of his day training his ass off when he is 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, and hopefully he isnt kicked out at 16 whereas he can see what became of his ass. the few best students stay on to go on to the reserve squad and then the main adult team

the levels of dedication arent comparable. you are groomed to be a real soccer player from the get-go; little league is a joke from a developmental perspective because it doesnt translate your skills to the adult version as well. soccer does. you dont grow up to be a half projectable baseball player until High School. at that age an adult soccer player is already 90% projectable.

Those little league select baseball teams are something serious. Those kids play baseball year around in different tournaments and are trained by former MLB people. AAU basketball are the same way.

also, keep in mind that ranking != living at academy half the fukking day, eating their food and training half the day.
