and honestly, again, infrastructure is EVERYTHING

the only reason lots of stars are being in america made is cuz colleges pay for ALL their expenses/education/food/room and only want them to play.

in europe, its academies, but they start with children. obviously (no pedo) cant do it in college here.

but if its not in college, who is going to pay for all that ? without a college that can cake off their star, who's paying ?

you gotta realize that to be a soccer player, kids from ages 7 on live on fukking site of youth academy. for most of them, they dont even have to attend schools IIRC. they are groomed from the get-go. and most of the kids are ecstatic about such conditions because theyre soccer-crazed.

there is no way anything like this can happen here.

its usually a lot later than that. Like 12 or 13.

Cant have it at 7 for obvs reasons

and that depends on the country as well. Dont think the residency thing happens in England.

yeah for sure

they get them in the programs early, but its like a day school up until a certain age.

and I think we are seeing it in other sports, the US athlete development program is flawed. Other nations are catching up and passing us in sports we used to dominate.

I asked you like two questions in this thread. you decided to ignore them.

what you STILL fail to understand that athleticism is far from an important thing in soccer. you have to be fit, but you dont have to be athletic to be the best.

in fact, the most dominant soccer team of our time (spain/barca) is bunch of midgets passing the ball around. all the athleticism, speed and power dont matter if you are running without the ball and are struggling to keep it without a foul.

similarly, athleticism doesnt matter as much in golf or tennis :manny:
roger federer is the greatest tennis player ever and not from the US...

Who keep bring up athleticism?

And we going to act like there ain't thousands of private school and charter schools specifically for baseball and basketball around the country. Especially AAU basketball which have the best young basketball players start playing against each other as early as 8 years old which World Wide Wes control (look him up) and Select baseball where young kids compete all the way up to the little league world series against other countries kids.

Fall back clown.

How hard is that for these dudes to understand that. The gauge athleticism in every sport looks it's all the same.

Are people on this thread going to act like Brazil's dominance and elite play the past 5 decades had nothing to do with the fact that in addition to being highly skilled they usually had the best athletes on the field against whoever they played against?

France 1998 and 2000 team was full of dudes of Caribbean and African decent.
Let's not act like their athleticism coupled with their access to great coaching and facilities in a stable footballing nation like France did not make them dominant.

Some of you talk about soccer as though is takes a lot of thinking, comparing being a midfielder to a QB :childplease: Soccer at its very core is a street ball game like bball. Creativity, rhythm, and intuition are a large part of the game. Managers are not calling plays from the sideline in soccer. They ain't got not Bill Bilichek out there, I mean a coked up Maradona managed a national team coach :comeon:

Athleticism from one sport is not always transferable to other sports.

YOU

your argument is flawed

your argument that athletes in one sport are going to achieve the same level of success in another sport (solely because of athleticism) is a ridiculous one.
