If Lamar is considered "Lamar Drexler/McGrady" here, who are the NBA equivalents of J Allen & Burrow?

The forced comparisons in here are hilarious. Someone just said Wilt is the closest comparison for Lamar. Y'all cats need to give it up and let this thread die.
I didn't hear you speak up when people compared him to Drexler and McGrady. He's objectively a way better player at his sport than any of those guys were in theirs...

So you aren't being consistent, but in truth to the thread premise, who is his basketball comp, since it isn't Wilt?

Unless the parallels are obvious and near-foolproof, it’s pointless making comparisons across sports.

It becomes a forced conversation.

To that point - the Wilt comparison doesn’t even remotely make any sense. They affected their respective games in a completely different manner, that I can’t quite possibly comprehend why you think he comes to mind when watching Lamar.

So if you're consistent and comparing across sports is dumb, you shoulda had this tone with the dumb ass Drexler and McGrady comps, because there's no way you comprehend that those make sense. You're not being consistent...

Then again you're not really a football guy, right? 😂

Why are people so eager to compare NBA and the NFL like it's the same sport.

In the NBA 1 player is a lot more important than in the NFL. It does not take many trades or coaching changes to create a title contender in the NBA if you have a great player.

Just look at Payton Manning, until his last season he had a losing record in the playoffs. And his last season, as we know, he was like the equivalent of Jameis in 2024.

So if you wanna compare between sports you can't just look at numbers, titles, or whatever. It's gotta be an intelligent discussion.

Oakland
Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase are Penny and Shaq in 95

Josh is Ewing (people always thought New York would eventually beat the bulls tho it never happens)

Lamar is Miller

This is only if we keep comparisons to 90s nba teams

You’re only getting mad because I called your silly comparison out.

:hubie:

It's not that I have a problem with cross-sport comparisons, it's just that most of the time folks are lazy with it or they're talking nonsense. You'll also find that cats are just making jokes with a lot of these too, and I see really no reason to make it more than that (like the Drexler one).

Judging by your analysis, it seems like you're not the football guy.

The thread premise is cross sport comparison. You don't have a problem with it, so then, who is Basketball Lamar?

He's Black Manning more than any basketball comp we can think of. Generational talent is a phrase that gets overused, but he's a truly historic quarterback, with historic production to match, who dominates regular seasons effortlessly. Manning was the first guy we ever saw was his own OC. He completely innovated the pre-snap QB, the way he manipulated and controlled defenses was a work of art and he had absolutely legendary production...

Lamar innovated the stereotypical running, black QB, who was never supposed to be this dominant a passer, because none of them were. And he controls games effortlessly, half the time it doesn't seem like he's going that hard, his arm angles, deep ball flicks of the wrist, etc...

He's Black Manning, I can't wait for him to finally get his championship...
Nick Wright been saying that for a couple months now. Ppl don’t wanna make the comparison because one is a white statue and one is the greatest dual threat ever and black, but it really does track. fukk that Megamind headass cac tho
