If Lamar is considered "Lamar Drexler/McGrady" here, who are the NBA equivalents of J Allen & Burrow?

The MJ thing aside, Mahomes is going for his 4th SB in year 8 so the young guys are just young guys at this point.

The NFC is wide open but the AFC has an established pecking order with PLM2 at the top.

Burrow/Allen/Jackson/Stroud/Nix/Maye/Tua/Herbert/Lawrence....whoever it is and regardless of age, they'll have to go through KC and Mahomes if they want to win while he's still playing. The AFC goes through him....and one of these dudes is going to have to beat him.

Only one starting QB born in 1990 or later has a ring and it's Pat.

We gotta stop doing this, I've already illustrated how Mahomes has the age advantage over almost all the good-to-great QBs...

Mike was in Y7 when he won his first title. If Mahomes wins in 10 days, it'll be 4-2 over Mike at the same stage in his career. The difference is that when Mike started winning, most of his peers were in his age range...

If you run down the best QBs in football today, here is the season they just finished in 2024:

Year 9
Goff
Dak

Year 8
**Mahomes**

Year 7

Allen
Lamar
Baker
Darnold

Year 6
Kyler

Year 5
Hurts
Tua
Burrow
Herbert

Year 4
Love

Year 3
 Purdy

Year 2
CJ

Year 1
Jayden
Nix

He's not keeping all the old guys from winning titles, they all got one (Russ, Rodgers, Padford), so what generation is he keeping from winning championships?

Allen is the only guy he's beaten multiple times in the playoffs, so you can say this about Allen. You can't say this about anyone else. First of all, if you're more than 3 draft classes younger than Mahomes, you don't even have the time in to be considered a competitor yet (so drafted in 2021 or after)...

Dak and Goff are both a year older than Mahomes, but Mahomes ain't the reason these guys haven't won. Dak is a habitual playoff choke artist, that's not Mahomes' work. Goff has led a Super Bowl run and two NFC Championship runs, he's in the other conference, Mahomes ain't stopping shyt...

People quickly forget that both Lamar AND Burrow have BOTH had two seasons cut short by injury, so in addition to being younger than Mahomes, the injuries mean that they have less experience than they'd have if healthy. Darnold and Baker both fukking sucked most of their careers, they weren't good enough to be kept from shyt 😂

Kyler and Tua are the definitions of mid, so they aren't good enough to make the convo, and while Herbert is good enough, he's either never in the playoffs or losing his playoff appearance in historic meltdown fashion. Neither of his playoff games were vs Mahomes...

So what "generation" is Mahomes shutting out?

Here's what's about to happen, because you nikkas don't follow history and think shyt stays sweet forever:

This dynastic Chiefs run is near its end, if this year isn't the last year of it, next year is the final one. That's NFL history, dynasties don't last longer than 7 years...

We're about to see a real reshuffling of the deck, now that his division is loaded with HOF coaches at every team, and these younger QBs and teams mature. Mahomes has battled injuries but never lost real time because of them, so compared to several of his peers (Lamar, Burrow), he's avoided a real injury year. And he'd be wise to adapt his play style soon, because the way he plays isn't conducive to staying healthy the older he gets...

I think barring injury, Mahomes and the Chiefs will always be contenders in the same way the Patriots and Brady were, so long as he remains in his prime. But, the second half of the 2020s, is likely to see a new guy winning it every season, some guys are about to get theirs...

ALL THE OTHER GREAT QBs are YOUNGER THAN MAHOMES. These guys are about to have their time to shine...

MJ didnt shut anybody out. He won 6 rings. All the people he "shut out" played 17 plus years. Its fun to say but it aint true and frankly comical when you really think about it.

Someone else will eventually break through. Chiefs ain't gonna do no Russell Celtics shyt. But as it stands now, Mahomes is hogging all the rings.

Not sure what you are getting at with the age or injury piece. All his would be peers are within a year or two of him agewise...just like MJ and his would be peers. MJ and all of them really benefited from the generation after them never truly rising up (and the league pivoting to a style conducive to old nikkas). I dont see that happening here. Jayden and CJ are coming :dame:. League is actually structured to reward squads that hit on young QBs. As far as injuries go...staying healthy or at least active can only be a good thing.

It’s not surprising that @CHICAGO is in here defending and downplaying those turnovers by Jackson.

In his opinion, they’re not a big deal since they didn’t lead to points for the Bills, eventhough the Ravens wouldn’t have been in that end game situation had they turned them into points :mjlol:

It's been a recurring theme for him in the playoffs compared to the regular season, so the "it happens" narrative doesn't work in this particular instance hence other posters point.

Josh Allen hasn't won a single thing to be compared to any of the greats

That fool is Paul George

He's performed great in the playoffs. I think we would have to call him Josh Allen Iverson:mjlol:

He can put up as many impressive stat lines as he wants. But Eric Snow won't save him when he needs it most.

Burrow would probably be Paul Pierce with the big 3. He has the guys but Zac Taylor is Doc Rivers.

That's fine if that's the game you want to play, but it doesn't change that it's been a recurring theme in his playoff career. Even CBS posted the stats, so it's hard to downplay them without bias at play.

You were the same one downplaying the turnovers saying the Bills didn't score from them when they wouldn't have been in that end game situation had they turned them into points.

When I say age I'm not talking about birth date, I'm talking about professional experience. The birth date doesn't matter in sports, nearly as much as the game time experience...

Burrow is 3 draft classes behind Mahomes, PLUS lost Y1 and Y4 to injury. That stuff matters as much as all the negatives guys wanna shyt on Burrow for, and he deserves criticism like anyone else where warranted...

Mahomes has benefitted by being well older than most of his contemporaries, older in league years, and by being healthier than everybody...

Health isnt a benefit...its a tribute. Part of being the best is being available.

All these dudes balled out the gate (except Josh) in a era that caters to QBs so I cant get with the experience piece. Mahomes benefits from coaching, great drafting, and being a cut above himself.

Mahomes is Bill Russell? Mahomey dropped 5000 Yards and 50 tubs his first year as a starter with electrifying plays, Lamar best year don't compare :mjlol:
