Burrow is Gary Payton, Allen is Reggie Miller
LAMAR IS ACTUALLY 80S JORDAN.
CLEARLY THE BEST PLAYER
IN THE LEAGUE BUT DOESNT
HAVE THE CHIPS YET.
MAHOMES IS MAGIC
BURROW AND ALLEN
CAN BE BIRD AND ZEKE
MINUS THE RINGS

Yeah there's no precise basketball comp for Lamar, Wilt is just the closest I can think of...Thats a good comp. They even call Andy Big Red. It fits perfectly the last 2 years but Mahomes was putting up dumb numbers himself before that. What do you think about MJ and pre-rings Dream? Or how about Pat as Tim and Lamar as KG?
On the surface I get the Manning comp. The difference for me is that there is a clearer explanation for Peyton's struggles. He played in a finesse, timing offense in an era where defense could still be played. His teams werent built for that. They were built to be cute in a dome. Lamar on the other hand plays in a softer era and you would think his style and skillset would translate better.Yeah there's no precise basketball comp for Lamar, Wilt is just the closest I can think of...
I don't think he's necessarily Mike before the titles, but I see Chicago's point, re:Lamar two years straight being the best player in football. But the Mike one doesn't quite fit for me for the same reason it doesn't work for you...
I like the Dream one better, as it took him awhile to break thru, but he was never a bad playoff guy, is where the differentiator is...
I like the Tim/KG one, that one fits almost as well as Russell/Wilt...
Ultimately, he is way better than these Drexler/McGrady comps. McGrady never won a series, and Drexler was flat out never this good in basketball, as Lamar is in football...
Lamar's a unique football case, but ironically the closest football comp to him is what we've been saying for a couple years now: he's Black Manning; he's Manning reincarnated in an athletic black quarterbacks body. He played well in this year's playoffs overall, and Manning had good moments too, but for some reason his regular season self has yet to translate to a playoff run, just as it was with Manning...
He's Black Manning more than any basketball comp we can think of. Generational talent is a phrase that gets overused, but he's a truly historic quarterback, with historic production to match, who dominates regular seasons effortlessly. Manning was the first guy we ever saw was his own OC. He completely innovated the pre-snap QB, the way he manipulated and controlled defenses was a work of art and he had absolutely legendary production...
Lamar innovated the stereotypical running, black QB, who was never supposed to be this dominant a passer, because none of them were. And he controls games effortlessly, half the time it doesn't seem like he's going that hard, his arm angles, deep ball flicks of the wrist, etc...
He's Black Manning, I can't wait for him to finally get his championship...
I hear you on the Manning thing...On the surface I get the Manning comp. The difference for me is that there is a clearer explanation for Peyton's struggles. He played in a finesse, timing offense in an era where defense could still be played. His teams werent built for that. They were built to be cute in a dome. I think the Wilt comp is perfect because Wilt had the numbers, the MVPs, and the unexplainable playoff falloff. Just not sure Pat fits Russell for the reasons I mentioned earlier. McGrady is on Lamar's level in talent but not accomplishments. Allen may be more Drexler...constantly compared but years from now it may look ridiculous.
Come on bro, Lamar can't be compared to Jordan. Even when Jordan wasn't winning titles, he performed in the playoffs. Lamar, on the other hand, has never performed well (to his standards) in the playoffs and 2 years in a row now, he's had great rosters so you can't make the 'he didn't have a team' excuse anymore.
I'm with you overall but the fumble was his fault, it wasn't caused by the snap because he caught the snap cleanly and was in position to make a play. Him not going down at the first contact is what caused the fumble, and he believes this too, he said it in his post-game presser...
LAMAR WAS FINE IN THESE PLAYOFFS.
YOURE TAKING 2 FLUKE TURNOVERS
THAT WERE BOTH CAUSED
BY HIS TEAMMATES NOT DOING
WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO
AND PRETENDING HE HAD
A BAD GAME WHEN
HE THREW FOR 2 TDS,
72% COMPLETION, 114 PASSER RATING
AND HAD 291 YARDS IN THAT GAME.
You realize we are saying the same thing right? You look at TMac and he had it all...height, athleticism, and game. He is a created player on 2K. Much like Lamar is a Madden created player. But T-Mac was never a serious MVP candidate, let alone 3 time winner, outside of his first year in Houston if I am not mistaken. I say that was more so about his team not being that good but it is what it is. So no he never got to Lamar's status but his talent was undeniable.I hear you on the Manning thing...
McGrady at his very best, was probably a Top 4 player. Nobody ever seriously argued that he was THE best player in basketball, as his peak was simultaneously with Kobe, Duncan, and Shaq. He was a fantastic player but he wasn't this. We could make the legitimate case that Lamar is the best player in football. McGrady wasn't quite at that level...
I'm with you overall but the fumble was his fault, it wasn't caused by the snap because he caught the snap cleanly and was in position to make a play. Him not going down at the first contact is what caused the fumble, and he believes this too, he said it in his post-game presser...
Overall though, this was a good game, the turnovers keep it from being a great game. He picked himself off the mat really well though, because he could've easily snowballed and been terrible after the turnovers. But he bounced back and had them in position to win, and he was better than Josh in the game...
The forced comparisons in here are hilarious. Someone just said Wilt is the closest comparison for Lamar. Y'all cats need to give it up and let this thread die.
