Another self hating ass, bash Black people mafukka.

Family Matters turned wack after the writer made the show 80% about him. The 1st 2 seasons were good. The absolute worst was when Steve got to high school.
I mean he added to the show but they overdid it with him. When he started being Myrtle Urkel it was like ok now this shyt is out of control :russ: Now when they added Myra and Greta later on to add to older Laura and Max tho :ehh:

Steve in drag was the stupidest shyt they did.

They also made the show wack when every episode started being about steve experiments.

Poor fella

Didn't listen but

Urkel was a buffoon. His appeal was his willingness to debase himself. It was popular but not cause the character was fly in any way. Carleton is in that lane.

But they can't understand why popularity doesn't equal respect.

Kinda like the loosest hoes in the hood. The ones who let niqqas run train. Popular, but not worthy of respect.

The other sitcoms ranked above Family Matters are just better. Martin Payne is respectable as well as goofy as hell.

Ever since my nıgga got married to the Screech from Save by the bell looking hoe, he been kinda wrong.

I still support him but come on dawg. Your show is one of the GOATs and you helped elevate it. Stay humble.
His show was objectively bad. He was the only good thing about Family Matters. If we keep it honest.

Show just wasn't grounded to reality and was written through the lens of white people. Carl Winslow and Grandma Winslow were the only more relatable characters.

The show got better once Jaleel and the rest of the cast were involved in the writing but it was so fictionalized.

Our black shows growing up were not hood, they were just real and written by black writers. The Cosby Show, Different world, Fresh Prince and Living Single were definitely not hood. Maxine was a lawyer and Khadijah owned a magazine firm. Kyle worked for the stock market I believe.

This was innovation in sitcom because the archetype for shows back in the day was family. Now we're introduced to new elements with Martin and Living Single. We're introduced to an HBCU. These are prominent black shows which we resonate with growing up.

Not a nıgga with a magical portapotty that transforms him into Rico Suave or a time machine. It was a kids show. Kids shows generally attract kid viewers. So these shows and full house or step by step were just that. For a kid show, Family matters was tiers above the rest. It wasn't wack, it was just geared for kids so as you got older, some of the elements, you outgrew.

After watching the clip some of y’all clearly didn’t watch or took it completely out of context :martin:

Everything he said made sense…Never met him but Jaleel has always comes off like an aware level headed dude in his interview…

Yeah, I totally agree. A lot of Black TV shows back then, like The Cosby Show and A Different World, really tackled serious topics while still being funny and relatable. They covered things like education, family issues, and social challenges but they did it in a way that felt real and authentic.

On the other hand Family Matters seemed kind of unrealistic and didn’t really feel like a kids' show at first. It started off focusing on family life and everyday situations, which was nice. But then it got really silly and completely exaggerated - almost like it was trying too hard to be a kids' show.

I mean Urkel was definitely funny and added some humor, but overall … Family Matters just felt much much weaker and less impactful compared to those other shows.

He needs therapy because he’s angry and hurt.

And also very delusional about the legacy of that show.

He was the 1990s JJ Evans wrapped in a geek character role. One would think he would be happy knowing that he hijacked Family Matters and was able to eat for a decade.
