Family Matters was just Goofy, I watched it as a kid Cause of Laura and Myra.

Exactly, we called it "Urkel" because the show was all about his fukkery with no classic moments to compete with Fresh Prince...shyt just the first season.

  • Will moving in.
  • The end of the episode when he played the piano
  • Jazz introduction
  • When Will told the interview dude about how country Uncle Phil grew up
  • Ice Tray
  • The "Driving While Black" episode
  • Timothy Dela Ghetto
That's just the first 7 episodes.

Smart Guy was about a genius boy living in the suburbs and miles ahead of "Urkel."

Sometimes, the phrase “hood stories” is just codeword for Black films and sitcoms, not necessarily the hood itself but rather just Black households and most Black people live in what would be considered as the “hood” for most people.

The reason why it's sometimes referred to that way is because most Black movies and TV shows mainly appeal to Black audiences, these shows and movies were very popular and oftentimes quoted for pop culture references.

The problem with some of you guys is that you think similarly to cacs in the sense that y'all associate the word and meaning of the “hood” with being bad, along with everything and everyone within as something negatively unimaginable.

I dont think he meant hood. I think he meant cultured

Living single and martin had black culture throughout them

U could have made family matters a white family and it would be the same exact show. Living single and martin would not have the same feeling

Nah bro. Family Matters just didn’t have great writing or classics episodes with quotables.

I can say “rent ‘em spoons”, “bref mints”, “Gordon Gartrelle”, etc. and people instantly know the EPISODE and show I’m talking about.

Urkel’s goofy ass talm bout “Did I do that” and “Got any cheese” got tired.

Basically this…

There are plenty of black TV shows before and after Family Matters did not have those so called “hood stories” he’s talking about. And yeah, people are going to put those shows over Family Matters because that show got ridiculous as fukk starting at season 3. The only good thing that came out of that show in the later seasons was Myra.
