Peyton is more gifted, arguably the best Quarterback.
Eli is a winner. No matter how ugly it looks, he finds a way to win.
I'm getting tired of the "X is better than Y because he has more Super Bowl Rings" argument. Mufukkas still don't understand that there are 52 other players on an NFL Roster. Winning a Super Bowl is a TEAM accomplishment, not an individual one.
Again, the ultimate example in this argument is Dan Marino. Guess he really wasn't all that good huh, considering he didn't win a Super Bowl.
Eli is good, but he's not as good as Peyton. Probably never will be. And no, that's not a knock on Eli. Peyton is/was just that good.
Peyton is more gifted, arguably the best Quarterback.
Eli is a winner. No matter how ugly it looks, he finds a way to win.
In football at that. Its one of the ULTIMATE TEAM accomplishments. My high school football team back one year was one of the best teams in recent years in the state. Had multiple top D1 players (doesnt happen too often for a pub high school in MD) and was feasting on the top perennial contenders in our division in the reg season. #1 seed in the ENTIRE STATE and lost in the 1st rd of the playoffs . Thats why I dont fault Peyton too much for his lack of Super Bowls. In football it takes MORE than one player or two or even 5 players. EVERYBODY from the coaching staff to the scout teams in practice gotta bring they A game at every second.
c/s its not b-ball where one man can get u that championship as much where football no matter how great u are u need more help
Eli wasn't throwing to HOFers either like Peyton was. And Indy did have a great Defense with Bob Sanders and Freeney but Peyton normally choked in the postseason.
Also, the most yards Peyton ever thew in a season was 4,700 and Eli threw for 4,900 last season
in 05 their Defense was ranked 2 and in 07 the was 1st. The won the superbowl in 06 because their defense beasted on everybody. New England scored 34 points but that mostly do to a pick 6 by Peyton, fumble return, and more special teams turnovers.to just look at names and say the colts had a great defense is just plain lazy. that defense has statistically been one of the worst in the league for over a decade. look at the teams that the colts lost to most often were the chargers, pats, and steelers. well-rounded teams that played good/great offense and exceptional defense. football isn't like basketball, where you can determine greatness by championships because one person can't will a team to victory on the field the way they can on the court. you're dependent on too many people to properly do their job.
Coming into this year....Manning was 5-2 in the last 7 times out against New England, including the AFCCG in 06. (4-2 if you don't wanna count 08 since Brady was out)
He hasn't looked nearly as lost against New England recently. Knowing this, don't you think it's more plausible that New England just had the right players to be able to beat the Colts at the time? I mean they did win 3 SBs.
Steelers and Chargers had more to do with being able to get pressure(something you do with all QBs), not necessarily confusing him.
James wasn't on that superbowl team, breh
Peyton was the one at the line of scrimmage making audible pass protection. When a team disuse their blitz to make you think it is coming from one side but it is actually from the other side then my good sir that has everything to do with him being confused by the defense
And Peyton only beat the Pats once in the Playoffs
any proof? How is that proof that they couldn't get off more so than Peyton being confused and changing their routes causing them to be ineffectiveIf you gonna do that then you can't belabor the "look at who he's played with" point then either. If you wanna put it all on Peyton that's fine, just be consistent. Dont' try to diminish his numbers and accomplishments by harping on the teammates that you don't wanna talk about when it comes to the L's.
And actually they were dropping passing and having trouble getting open when playing against physical teams. Just look at Marvin's postseason numbers. In 16 games aka a season's worth of games the nikka had 65 rec for 883 yds and 2 TD. That sound like a HOFer to you? The Colts as a whole, but especially the recievers folded against physical teams. Peyton had his struggles to, no doubt however I'm not sure what QB wouldn't struggle under pressure with recievers struggling to get open or hold on to the ball.
Me personally I call it how I see it and don't subscribe to whatever the popular thought is. Championships, especially in football, are all about a total team effort and good fortune. It doesn't matter how good a qb is if his team doens't have a complete effort and fortune doesn't go his way he ain't winning.
If Indy can win a SB despite Peytons' poor play doesn't that demonstrate how winning SBs are about far more than QB performance? Peyton has had numerous playoffs where he performed better individually but the one year he won was the year where everybody else played their ass off and all the bounces went his way.
I never said James was on that superbowl team but you can argue Joseph Addai
was better than then the Giants defense
And I love how everybody is saying how great a team the Giants had after winning these superbowls because I don't recall them ever being a favorite in those post season games. They were always the underdog but I guess yall want to rewrite history and call a team no one gave a chance to a "great team"
