If Dallas wins a title will Kyrie be put on the Mt Rushmore of 1B/Robin players alongside Pippen…..?

Are we overlooking that Pippen was like 3rd in the MVP voting in the '93-94 season and the Bulls won 55 games with him as the #1?

Just show me where Kyrie has done something similar...

We'll also overlook that players like Kareem, Cousy, Wade, Kobe, Havlicek, Big O, Dr. J, Steph, etc. were MVPs or Finals MVPs in other seasons, but took a step down to play with an even better #1 that year.

We'll also overlook that players like Pippen, Heinsohn, Sharman, Jones, McHale, etc. won far more rings as a sidekick than Kyrie has.

Nah, man, the ONLY criteria that matters is Kyrie's ppg in one series back in 2016. :russ:

Kyrie deserves a lot of credit for playing as well as he has this season and the Mavs getting to the Finals. I don't think a lot of people expected that but he's also held to a lesser standard than other great players. If the Mavs lose from here, it won't be him who receives the blame it'll be Luka.

You see it on these boards all the time. A guy like Tatum or Ant scores 17 points on a bad shooting night and they are destroyed. When they score 36 and fill the box score it's "they did what they are supposed to.."

A guy in Kyrie's position as a Robin can have multiple inefficient games and nobody cares

#2s (1a stuff is just juelz to protect egos and feelings) get in where they fit in. Ky wasnt that until recently and he still has certain limitations as far as being a supporting player. He a lil nikka that can get buckets. That only really works if you got a 6'8 PG that can run the offense and drop 30-40. A nikka like Pip can get in where he fit in wherever. Those Cs with prime Pip are a problem. Same with him and KD in BK. It seems like those experiences have helped him to embrace who he is and where he actually fits. But we still got damn near a decade of him refusing to do so.

He helped Lebron bring a title to Cleveland and was the stabilizer. Now he’s doing the same with Luca. If not for the pandemic and them pressing to trade for Harden, he probably would’ve done the same thing in Brooklyn.
Clearly you don’t know what a 1B is.

Show me Pippen mirroring Jordan’s numbers in a Finals series.

I literally put this in the Kyrie trade thread on Thursday and nikkas got in they feelings about it:

Trade worked out better than most thought, but it's really the trade deadline moves this year that pushed Dallas up a level...

Most of yall on here were not only down on Ky, yall were down on Luka, let's not forget the narratives about him too. You mf's didnt see Dallas as a Final 4 team, and neither did I...

Kyrie wins this title he's gonna be in the conversation for greatest #2 ever...

I'm not trying to do anything. It's frustrating dealing with you guys and your conspiracies...

So Pippen is generally thought of as the GOAT #2, because he played most of his career in that role and won all his rings in that role. Alot of guys who were greats 2s won at least one ring as a #1, so it kinda disqualifies them. So when the topic of GOAT #2s comes up, we're really talking about 2s who never won as a #1, were never league MVPs, etc...

So the list is short, and for the record I wouldn't put Kyrie there anyway because he simply hasn't won enough in his career. But the guys generally discussed as GOAT 2s (no order):

Davis, Gasol, Havlicek, Jones, McHale, Pippen, West, Worthy

Kyrie is already generally regarded as one of the 80 greatest players ever. Winning another title assuredly pushes him higher on that All-Time list, and puts him in the conversation with the 8 names I listed above...
I'll be back later to elaborate but the idea that Kyrie is in the convo with other All-Time 2s, with another ring, has merit...
