They had ellsbury’s $21 million come off the books after 2020 as well so they could’ve easily dealt with 2 years of a higher payroll than they wanted to get Harper and Machado instead of crying poverty while also spending some $69 million on crap in the winter of 2018. No less gets less out of their budget, specifically because their priority is getting value over production

The fact that Machado, Harper or Dusty didn’t join this team at any point in the last 6 years is a major indictment on this organization because they should have pulled in at least 2 of these dudes.

Stanton is basically invisible at this point but at least has produced far more than Jacoby ever did. But it’s astounding that he came here and was nothing like what he was in Miami.

Same reason he only had 130 RBI’s last year with 62 homers. He rarely gets to hit with multiple guys on and since nobody behind him scares the pitchers, they’re ok with walking him. Same shyt happened with Bonds. Look how few RBI’s he had relative to all the homers.

It’s not even a minor league offense. 2 hits vs a team that’s 10 games under .500 now. 6-8 weeks ago this offense had an average and obp outside of judge that would be in the bottom 35 all time in both categories.

hitting him 2nd is also not the best idea. Fully commit to guys who can get on base and not just guys who can get on base despite hitting .190.

Judge had 23 more homers last year than Texiera did that year and only had I think 9 more RBI’s on the year. 8 more homers than A-Rod did in 2007 but 25 fewer RBI’s.
