Don't Believe the Hype
Forgive the shameless self-promotion, but I find this quite fitting and topical...

I just dropped a beat tape last week called Summer '91 and for half the track titles, I used '91 Yankee player names.

Feels apropos with this current team.

They were 50-46 over the final 96 games and from the month of July onward the offense outside of judge posted a .223/.292/.360 triple slash. In 2021 nobody besides Judge or Stanton had an average above .268 or an obp above .349 and last year besides judge nobody hit above .261 or had a .340 obp on the year. Pitching has been an issue for most of the past 20 years too. They never have more than 1 truly reliable starter at a time and cashman loves to fill the roster with declining and injury prone players who don’t fit well together. That’s not the sort of team that will age gracefully.

Who cares what the record was in half a season they were amongst the final 4 teams in the playoffs. That flies directly in the face of theyve been treading water for years which is a lie...treading water is finshing 3rd-4th place for half a decade...Its a bad season but its hilarious how Yankee fans cant compartmentalize it.

Yankee fans have been so spoiled they think a single losing season is apocalyptic...I dont think yankee fans could mentally handle an actual treading of water.

Being this bad with this payroll is unacceptable and any fanbase should react the same way. With the resources they have, it’s damn near impossible to be 95-100 loss type bad. Even more so when 2 teams in the east refuse to ever spend, Boston crashing and burning every few years, and a bunch of teams tanking solely for profit. We aren’t mad solely that they’re bad. In fact we expected the 2013-16 teams to all finish below .500 or close to it. The issue is that there are clear and obvious solutions to anyone paying attention and they refuse to do it because the GM has too big an ego to admit he fukked up at any point and is only willing to win if it’s 100% on his terms. It’s the same shyt as the chargers GM firing Schottenheimer because he himself wasn’t getting enough credit and ruining a championship window or how Jerry Reinsdorf allowed Jerry Krause to fire Phil Jackson knowing it would lead to the whole team being blown up because he didn’t care about the actual success of the team.

Also the formula is clearly broken when it comes to postseason results. Boston in 2003, Philly and Anaheim in 2009, Baltimore with a shoestring budget in 2012, & Cleveland with their shoestring budget in 2017 and 2022 are the only teams they’ve beaten besides the twins in the playoffs since 2003. 0-3 vs Boston, 0-3 vs Detroit, 0-4 vs Houston since 2004 with losses to Texas, Miami, Anaheim, Cleveland, and Tampa along the way too.

What they do doesn’t work and they refuse to fix it, instead choosing to make excuses, find easy scapegoats to throw under the bus, declare that they did everything right and that the results don’t matter as long as their process was good, and then they send their shills in the media out to lie to us and tell us we’re unreasonable for expecting accountability and to not stick to a formula that doesn’t work all while they pass on great players at positions of need in their prime in free agency and trades while also refusing to play the young guys in favor of washed up vets. This is as toxic as an organization can get besides what the Oakland A’s are doing. No fanbase deserves that sort of treatment. Their lead tv play by play man is out here lashing out at us for wanting to see organizational change. shyt I wouldn’t even wish this on Boston fan. It radiates contempt for the fans.

It’s not like we’re unfamiliar with watching favorite teams of ours be bad either. Most of us are fans of at least one team between the jets, giants, Knicks, nets, or islanders and they all always suck.

we're obviously not coaching correctly, trying to cut payroll, players don't want to come here and the ones that do can't seem to handle NY mentally. Cashman's bytchass giving a press conference talking about topdown accountability. :pacspit:
