He tell the beat maker what to sample, he tell them to redo the drums, turn up the vocals, mute out certain instrumentals, etc

Rza, and DJ Premier are beat makers, Dre is a producer and a beat maker, I mean Daz did most of that death row shyt, Dre barely made any beats, he just turned some knobbs and made the decisions, based on what he thought sounded the best that's what a producer does, in music a producer is equal to the director of a film, the film producer who finances the project is called the executive producer in music, that's what P diddy did, he just wrote the check for everything, that's why he has executive producer credits, and why he said I don't write rhymes I write checks

Here you go. Puffy shows up to the studio high on a lot of cocaine, lit as hell, bothering Pharrell while he in his workspace creating. Pharrell is a nice guy so he entertains him. The song is released and Puff has a writing credit. Yes, I definitely see how he’s on the level of a Dre or JD

diddy was getting off on nostalgia smart marketing but as an artist its lazy.

a great modern example is from a couple years ago when tory lanez dropped a tape and it sampled mostly popular RnB songs people were calling him the king of sampling. shyt was disgusting to see in real time when nikkas like bink alchemist and madlib are still active dropping crazy sample flips.

Dr. Dre did the same shyt, matter of fact you can argue he hurt the artform the most not only with the lazy sampling but his promotion of gangsta rap
