na im indian, its indian hair that a lot of black people ridiculously and unnecessarily fiend for so I think my input is at the very least a little bit valid.

and yes, my understanding is that waves are laid down curls, and black hair is technically the curliest hence why they have their own terms ie; kinky, nappy, etc. when you press them down and brush them religiously they turn into "waves." is that a fact or not? wavy hair is the balance between straight and curly. I just fail to understand why black women get so much shyt for doing their hair the way they like it but black males get that pass. At the root it seems to be the same shyt.

i would like someone to better explain waves then because i fail to see where GITT is wrong

waves are achieved by "training" a natural curl pattern to "relax" by using product, compression via durags or wave caps, and brushing

if this isn't the process and if this isn't an act of purposeful/blatant hair manipulation then please educate me further

no. u are wrong. black folks can get waves simply by brushing your hair and puttin some coco butter on our hair. how can u compare a black woman putting synthetic hair on their heads that doesnt match their natural texture to a black man simply brushing his hair. :mindblown:

question: are u white? it seems that many non blacks have a hard time understanding the dynamic of black folks hair

You don't have to brush religiously to get waves. Some black people have naturally wavy hair. If i just wet my hair with water, it waves up and it stays that way until i blow dry it out. Not much effort involved.

If I flat iron my hair, it'll match my hair texture. I just got some clip ins that are going to look like it's all mine and best believe no on will know the difference. :heh:

did you even read what i wrote?

first of all i said the same thing about getting waves...that it requires a process of training the hair to look a certain way...i didn't refer to anything but the wave process so why are you throwing in additional words that i didn't type about weave...i did't compare the two

however...even though i didn't directly compare the two...my first question still stands and has naught to do with women using weave...the two things arent related....when a man brushes his hair with the intent on getting waves and that is not his natural hair texture...that's not hair manipulation? this is a simple yes or no question

lls @ me not understanding the dynamic of black hair...good one skippy...meanwhile you can't even accurately describe the wave process or at least admit to it being blatant hair manipulation ...and you think that every black woman with weave is trying to take on a different texture

wigs/weaving/faux hair are ancient practices performed the world over by a variety of racial and ethnic groups...ya'll be trying to hard to out argue folks without consulting reliable/credible references and/or stating fact vs opinion

"skippy" :heh: yeah you are white:skip:

You keep stressin this word "manipulation" I have explained the wave process. Many black people dont have a hard time gettin waves. Just some coca butter, vitamin e or bb super grow, cut your hair short and brush it and you will get waves. Its that simple

it's not just hair, that's the first lie we have to confront. if it were "just hair", it wouldn't be a big deal to appreciate your own. you wouldn't spend 9 billion annually on it, if it were just hair. i understand the issue with going decades with synthetic hair, only to be asked to be natural. it's probably like being asked to walk out the house naked or something to many black women.

but truth is most black men don't hate natural hair. we hate short, damaged hair. it's like y'all go 15 yrs with perms and weaves, then feel insulted when black men are shocked to see y'all looking like:

lets just assume that your generation is done for. you're al going to be stuck with weave and lye perms for life, fine. can you just try to refrain from repeating the same cycle with the next generation? we all know black women can grow long hair, it doesn't have to be this way.

:saddaryl:

1. I understand hair is a political topic unfortunately in Blacks, me stating its just hair means that it shouldn't be.

2. I completely agree with you that black women should start taking better care of their hair so we wouldn't have to hide behind a weave. And i competely agree that we shouldn't continue the cycle with our children. I'm definitely not relaxing my daughter's hair.

But let's not solely put the blame on Black women tho. Lets not act like we're not constantly bombarded with a message stating that "good hair" is what's appreciated. You can still put two natural girls next to each other and the one with the looser curl would be deemed "better." Somebody here even said it.

And to be honest it's refreshing to see Black men here appreciate natural hair, but at the same time this is just a piece of the Internet that not many young girls who start wearing weaves and perms are gonna see.

:what: that may be true for some, but definitely not all. There are dudes who go hard as fukk to get waves and can't. What's your explanation for that? If it were that simple there wouldn't be whole thread on here dedicated to getting and maintaining them 360's. Stop being disingenuous breh.

if you gotta "train" your hair to be wavy then your hair aint naturally wavy. It ain't rocket science.
