This, Marlo was not smarter than String. Chris had to school him on almost every tactical move and Joe on the business endNah man. I gotta disagree. Marlo was never painted as smart. This is the same dude that had a new car in his own name, with no income. String had to tell him how stupid that was for him to even notice it. So the chances of him even entertaining the thought of "these legit business guys might hustle me" is slim to none, he just wanted to be in the streets.

They deprived us of a Stringer vs Avon war. That would have been a million times better than the Marlo storyline. Stringer had everyone working together and no violence. That shyt was genius
"They saw your ghetto ass coming from miles away nikka"

"Murder aint no thing, but thats some assassination shyt"
"You hit a mufukka like that, the whole world gonna stand up and take notice"
Would've brought them all down doing that shyt

Love reading these "The Wire" threads although I've never watched an episode
shyt the fact that he outsmarted prop joe (while pretending to be cool with the Co-Op) shows how smart and cunning he was. Add to that the fact he was able to work (and pay) his way to making his own greek connect shows how smart Marlo was.
Once again 100% spot on. The writing was status that season, which is why I try to pretend Season 5 dosen't existThat was borderline bad writing, and one of the reasons I dislike season 5. There is no way in hell someone as savvy as Prop Joe would outline his entire operation to Marlo, there's no way in hell someone as cautious as The Greek would and work with a random nobody off suitcases full of money.
The writers wanted Marlo to be "the new Avon" so they kinda threw logic out the window. That don't make him smart though. If he didn't know the basics of his own trade....drug dealing....and common shyt like not to register expensive shyt you own in your name, with zero income....I don't know how the hell people expect him to spot Clay Davis, when even String didn't.

No he was the DragonI know he was 2nd in command. And it's Barksdale family. But still did you ever feel like Avon was ever the boss of Bell? At the very least it felt like co-leaders. AM I wrong?
