They deprived us of a Stringer vs Avon war. That would have been a million times better than the Marlo storyline. Stringer had everyone working together and no violence. That shyt was genius

Nah man. I gotta disagree. Marlo was never painted as smart. This is the same dude that had a new car in his own name, with no income. String had to tell him how stupid that was for him to even notice it. So the chances of him even entertaining the thought of "these legit business guys might hustle me" is slim to none, he just wanted to be in the streets.

Fred.
This, Marlo was not smarter than String. Chris had to school him on almost every tactical move and Joe on the business end

You guys are mistaking an education with intelligence, or knowing the in's and outs of a trade with basic cunning. By the time the show brings us to stringer and Avon dudes was in their late 20's early 30's and had put work in the game and from their conversations had both been students of the game. Marlo when he first is introduced didn't have that but you witness him being educated over time.

An example would be when avon sent that THOT to honeytrap Marlo and he figured it out quickly and had his people scope the scene. shyt the fact that he outsmarted prop joe (while pretending to be cool with the Co-Op) shows how smart and cunning he was. Add to that the fact he was able to work (and pay) his way to making his own greek connect shows how smart Marlo was. :myman:

When it comes to the lawyers its the same thing, it isn't a trade secret not to trust a guy like Clay Davis, knowing who Clay Davis really truly was should of been all a smart dude would need to know, to know not to fukk with Clay Davis more than you had too.

"Murder aint no thing, but thats some assassination shyt"

"You hit a mufukka like that, the whole world gonna stand up and take notice"

Would've brought them all down doing that shyt

It's the old Italian rule Luciano and Lanksy made famous...don't go after the fukking senators and governors. It leads to attention and they will crack down on you because no matter what, you're a nicely dressed criminal/thug. You can't do that Pablo Escobar craziness. Even billionaires can be humbled and scared in flea ridden hotels in the end.

String had to tell him....there was a lot of time between String dying and Marlo getting out the game. Maybe he learned in that time? You ain't born smart, you get smart.

That was borderline bad writing, and one of the reasons I dislike season 5. There is no way in hell someone as savvy as Prop Joe would outline his entire operation to Marlo, there's no way in hell someone as cautious as The Greek would :manny: and work with a random nobody off suitcases full of money.

The writers wanted Marlo to be "the new Avon" so they kinda threw logic out the window. That don't make him smart though. If he didn't know the basics of his own trade....drug dealing....and common shyt like not to register expensive shyt you own in your name, with zero income....I don't know how the hell people expect him to spot Clay Davis, when even String didn't.

Once again 100% spot on. The writing was :trash: status that season, which is why I try to pretend Season 5 dosen't exist
