I don't understand. Why do people like cats so much?

More of a dog person, but it's really until you own a cat. I didn't really care for them until then. Ive always kind of thought of cats as nasty- and they kind of are) especially in seeing how nasty most white folks houses are with cats. I like them, though even I don't understand the obsession most people, especially why most women love them to death.

I've had cats as pets since age 5, had a Tabby named Morris, like off them 80s commercials; he lived until I was 14

Currently I don't own any, but my parents have 2.

I love my baby lol. They are spunky and have their own personality. They are cute, like to cuddle, warm, do funny things sometimes. I like seeing him play with my dog. Their idgaf personality is endearing to me. Like ill just be chilling and he’ll jump on my lap and look at me like “ why the fukk are you here???” nikka its MY lap you jumped on, of course im here

My grandfather had a few that I would kick it with after he passed away. They figured out he wasn't coming back home so they gravitated to other members of the family and we started bringing them food. Smart little fukkers I must say

Only other thing I know about cats is that they bring you dead pests not for approval but because they think you're stupid

Cats don't view you as owner or even parent. They view you as equal or in their minds you're the child. And they never see you hunt. So they try to feed you. Cause you're too stupid to hunt

That cat was climbing around trying to figure out the surroundings. Y'all forget these are wild creatures. Cats were never domesticated like dogs they chose to live amongst us.

Cats don't bond with people same way dogs do. What you call selfish is indepence. Just cuz you threw breh out in the cold doesn't mean he will starve. They can still hunt and kill with ease and go in the house after and be a pet to someone they like.

A lot of people have this idea that they own animals and cats often defy that cac made idea of possession over another life. A cat could have multiple families and homes it lives in visits. They have tracked house cats that move around outdoors and found them to be incredibly social. Most pet owners want unconditional love and obedience. Get a dog for that. A cat will not fill that insecurity.

They are not thankless and as anyone with a cat knows they will also kill and present you with dead critters as a gift in an attempt to contribute their share. That's an instinctive trait that displays where their mental awareness is compared to most pets. They see themselves as equal to not subservient.

The most pertinent question you asked is why anyone OWNS one... As stated you simply DON'T. They choose you like you choose them. They're not broken in spirit like most domesticated creatures. You have to truly love their nature or avoid them.

Personally I see why they were reveered in ancient Egypt. If you respect nature you get it. The idea of ownership over life doesn't apply here.

Well put - particularly about the point of the mentality of trying to "own" another living being. This is exactly why I love cats.

It's also why I smdh when I see some folks try to expand that mentality to owning wild ass animals, too. Says a lot about how they see the world in general.
