I remember SNES games being crazy expensive but I don't remember Genesis games being very expensive at all. My parents used to buy me two and three of them at a time.

I live in the United States

I been trying to tell everyone, all the games cost the same.
Only a handful of games ended up costing more than $49.99, but by looking at this thread you'd think that was a rarity.
Yall sound like some elderly people talkin bout "Back in my day, NES games would routinely cost $100"

Nah bruh. The fukk your parents look like spending that type of doe on a damn game :comeon:
The ONLY reason I got SFII at launch? I found out about that game coming out a full year before it dropped. Probably longer.
I made it clear a year in advance "Mom... I NEED THIS GAME in my life"
And to be honest, I can still recapture the joy my heart had when I finally got ahold of it.
The way to describe it... you in a desert. You already given up hope and you are at peace with dying
Then a rescue chopper with naked women and ice cold Arizona Ice Tea's swoops in to save the day
The joy a person would get from a situation like that.... now your HALFWAY to the joy level I had.

Its sad now that I think about it, because I know I will never have that much excitement for anything ever again. I could get married, have a grandkid... whatever. It wont top getting SFII (Tru Story)

$49.99 back then was crazy expensive....I stayed buying new games and they rarely cost more than $25.

Somebody said they remember N64 games being more expensive. Nah bruh.
But once again, certain games did cost more. Conkers Bad Fur Day I believe came out costing like $69.99
The OG pic could come from anywhere. Online, people be tryin to to charge bank for bullshyt like this...

Conker's Bad Fur Day N64 Game | DKOldies

Idk about where you grew up. But around my way PS1 games were usually in the 40-50 dollar range while N64 games were usually 55-65.

I remember:

- getting the Super Nintendo for Christmas, and when tax time rolled around, my mom bought me Final Fight for 20 bucks at Wal-Mart
- most JRPGs were pricey as fukk, and stayed that way because of their entertainment value
- I wish I would have kept a lot more of the extremely rare games I ran into, they sell for dumb high prices on eBay
- games at the mall where ridiculously overpriced as well

Also, is that a Toys R Us or Electronics Boutique ad? :laff:

i still own final fantasy "3" (6) and tactics ogre on cartridge. i also have the tactics ogre on ps1. the cart came when i was an adult at a garage sale, i guess some kid went to college and left and his mama was slangin all his games, and that cart was in there for 10 dollars i snatched that shyt up quick.

if i had the money i would be a neo geo collecter because i fukking loved those carts, however in all hoensty id rather have neo cd. but final fantasy 6 i got as a birthday gift i think in 1995 while i was in middle school.

the earliest memory i have though is in 1992 getting the SNES for the first time in the spring after i made the honor roll. super mario world and pilotwings got intense play.

actually ill tell you guys a really fukked up story about my dad.

1991 i turned 9. My dad at this time was being a real fukking deadbeat, my mother took me to this mall in san jose to cop what she thought for sure was going to be ninja turtles the arcade game, not the shytty original . At the time I was really improving my english and reading (i had a heavy Portuguese accent) so for my birthday and as a reward i could have any game i wanted.

my dad who is american and really into football, i instead, chose playaction football thinking somehow some way he would play with me. i skipped on having one of the GOAT video games so just maybe i could play with my dad. Nope. I never saw that nikka for a few years. I hated playaction football, it was too hard and unlike tecmo bowl it wasnt arcady enough for me.

In america the only games i remember being that much were mario rpg, chronotrigger, and obscure rpgs....i never saw retail prices regular like that

this

This has to be Canadian money or a Fingerhut catalog as mentioned before because I used to study those Toys R Us inserts in the papers all the time. There were no 95 dollar SNES games in the US :childplease:

:ahh: the golden age of console gaming...when rarity of a game could drive up the prices in the mom & pops because the major chains didnt have em.

God Bless the CD format
