Hurricane Irma: now a tropical storm, moving into Georgia today

Miami is nearly flooded...

That was expected though at least they avoided a direct hit .

Naples took some damage and the Keys got wiped out but most of the people evacuated. (Not downplaying losing your whole existence via home destruction , just saying at least most are alive to put the pieces together)

For a state wide hurricane, they fared pretty well all things considered

Looks the media hyped this hurricane up.. it came and went like it was nothin.. now it's a category 1

Don't get it twisted breh, this hurricane could've been a COLOSSAL disaster for Florida. We were just lucky that:

A. The islands took that L for us (shout out to Antigua, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and the Turks and Caicos)

B. Cuba's mountainous region weakened it from a 5 to a 3 overnight

C. Friday morning it suddenly switched from striking straight up the heart of South Florida and headed to the sparsely-populated Keys and the Everglades, which weakened even more from a 3 to a 2 to the 1 we see now

Most storms that REALLY hurt South Florida dodge Hispaniola and come thru the Bahamas and strike us from the east/southeast

the story of Harvey was of neighbors helping each other out thru and after the storm


the story of Irma will be of all the looting, gouging and people just taking advantage of the system

The media will show what it wants to show. The "Florida is a lawless state" angle is much more juicy. Even before the hurricane, they showed the gas tankers being escorted by law enforcement on each side, like it was something out of Mad Max. The looters are in the minority.

see what I wrote earlier, the news in the next couple of days will make you think Fl is an all Black state

White conservatives will lie and flip the narrative with no shame. Anyone with a working brain and eyes can see that Florida is a swing state that leans red outside of its major metro areas. Not only that, but Houston is a Blue city. He speaks of "conservatives coming together" as if Houston is this red conservative city. I wanna see a Cat 5 hurricane come straight for DC so I can say the same thing while I'm on greasing back watching NFL in pretty weather.

It actually could have been really bad. Past the initial shock value of where it was supposed to hit landfall, everything else did us a favor, ESPECIALLY it not swinging back into the gulf and regaining strength.

When our Home Depots finally opened back up after Harvey (several days later)
They had 1 exit/entrance guarded by heavily armed state troopers and cops brought in from all over the state. They were very good to their employees though.
Most stores had police or armed security and limited the amount of people inside stores at 1 time also.

We still got half empty areas in stores.

The media and weather people are milking the shyt out of this storm for ratings. Look, nobody needs to get out of nowhere, if you ain't maybe in a few parts of Florida. Tired of this fake ass drama. Tryna scare people for ratings.

They focus on looting in two or three blocks in a state of 20million people that stretches over 65,000sq miles. Sensationalism indeed.
