Backlash from whites? Every negative ass having white woman was attempting to bounce it.

Twerking is just a name given to a form of dancing our women did and still do in Africa, so I don't know why some of y'all are trying to disassociate it from black culture and call it a negative. Probably the same type that trys to assimilate with whites

I find it funny that you dudes are acting like the modern form of twerking in America is so long lost traditional dance of our ancestors. Let's be honest that it's popular due hip hop dancing and it's focus then was based on strictly the sexual nature of the dance. Nothing more. There is no deeper intellectual level to its popularity here in America.

In West Africa its known as Mapouka, however if you look up modern videos of it there is a reason the majority of videos appear on porno sites...

Man, hush. Nobody is acting like its a lost tradition. It is inherent in black women to dance with the emphasis on her butt.

I'll take my L on this. I know hip dances originate in Africa (and South America), and while I still don't think "twerking" is black culture I can at least appreciate and acknowledge the origin story.
I also do not think twerking is negative. It is just that the only interactions and images of black people that many people have are from the media. So, it fits under the penumbra of the supposedly negative behavior of black people. White people, however, do not have to claim Miley Cyrus. It is a Miley Cyrus thing and not a white people thing.

They may had but that didnt stop them from doing struggle twerks for shyts and giggles like the macarena. They even had a "how to twerk" in one of those women magazines.
