this is real. and kind of reflects my one minor complaint about the show. at times it feels like it moves too fast. i think a huge part of that is because the show is from rza's POV, so moments we as fans might be looking forward to aren't prioritized. method man is a perfect example of this.
totally get why they put so much emphasis on protect ya neck. it was the single that put them on the map. but method man put them over the top. first it was his single, which got so big they had to make a second, we'vegotabudgetnow version of the video for MTV (the one that was in color). and then he carried the hook on cream, which was the clan's second real crossover moment.
mef was the star, along with ODB. his stardom was also on occasion the cause of some early friction.
it would be nice to see more of his importance to their success captured. it's definitely there. but not at the level i would expect given how pivotal he was.
I agree. I feel like they moved so slow on certain aspects early on and now we’re here at the payoff and they just sped through it. Would’ve loved to see a deeper dive on CREAM cuz that was their biggest group single from that album. Would’ve loved to see the reaction to CREAM blowing up.
