This season really hit it out the park. I mean the first season was a cool to see the backstory on Rza’s Prince Rakeem run and how that experience shaped his motivation with the Wu. But this season really just elevated everything. I loved seeing them shop for deals and seeing Rza’s determination to get a deal where each of them could go solo. He had such a great vision, it’s amazing he pulled it off.
The ep around making Protect Ya Neck has to be one of the best visual narrative displays of 90s hip hop beat making I’ve ever seen. From diggin in the creates, to chopping samples, filtering beats to change the sound, adjusting the pitch, adding multiple samples, matching the beat to the vocals, scrapping entire beats and creating new ones. Adding keys on top of samples. It was as just a great visual representation of the mind of the producer and really reflects the artistry that went into making those beats. I have rewatched that episode a bunch of times. I love that shyt
