After listening to the Rick Rubin interview and hearing how deep RZA got into composing, it made me think maybe he could compose original joints then sample them with the older equipment. Lofty thinking of course but that would be a way to appease RZA and the clan.

That's what I was hoping he'd do when I heard he was recording A Better Tomorrow w/ original soul era session musicians but he ended up doing more cover versions of existing songs they were replaying than taking the recordings and cutting them up.

96-97 was Deck at his peak I agree. 95 I still think he could have delivered a SOLID album but you may be right it was better suited for him to drop around Forever when he was at his peak IMO.
98 Deck was crazy. Tres Leches and Above The Clouds.

I like this joint its got good energy. Nothing spectacular verse wise but i like the beat a lot. And is that blue rasp? Thats a huuuuuuuuuuuge plus.

I don't think Deck releases a classic if he came out in '94 or '95. IMO, he didn't really pinpoint his sound outside of raw spitter until later. Plus, there was no window for it within the Clan. But the 2nd flood hurt Deck more. He was supposed to drop on the heels of Forever in '97, but with the second flood, turmoil and getting stalled with the Loud transition, he had to redo it for the '99 release...by which RZA had already moved on.

I do hope he and RZA manage to lock in for a 1-time album though. Deck's probably the only one that really hasn't had proper extensive RZA involvement.
Deck needed the early fun wu beats that were linked to early 90s over the late 90s if he wanted to pop more.

Theres a multi blends on yt mixing all uncontrolled with lesser known rza/wu beats from early 90s. Between them all, theres a gem in there. It def amps up the whole affair. little rascalz/lay ya hammer remix was fire.

I'm more HipHop than all 3 of you, fukk M80.

There's alot of controversy around him. It may seem like he's all about money or he disrespected Chino XL's family because he's very over the top at times. But I believe his heart is in the right place. To be a manager you must have great results. He was Chino's tight friend for well over a decade. That there says alot. Secondly - if he didn't have the incredible passion he had - one of Chino's final albums - Darkness and other colors most likely would never have seen the light of day in it's original form. Ppl in Chino's family did not want it out because he mentioned being disrespected by his loved ones. Many artists don't click with their families. If it wasn't for M80, that masterpiece which will be revered for centuries would have been lost or at best released in an edited and remixed form.It was over 3 years of consistent and focused work to complete.

Even if it was just a small handful of songs lost, we were robbed. But knowing a whole album(s) was lost, means Hip Hop was truly victimized by those fukk ass floods.

RZA said recently that he still doesn't protect his music from floods, lol.

He said the old floods happened for a reason, and that that music wasn't meant to come out. He said the floods made him go even crazier on the albums that followed, so the floods were a good thing because they motivated him to make the classics he did after.
