The Xbox Series consoles are failed products. Giving them 5 years isn't cutting them off early. Plenty of consoles have had 5 year lifespans so that's not abnormal at all. Due to the nature of xCloud Xbox Series owners who sub to Game Pass won't truly be left behind because they can play the next generation games on xCloud.

When a product comes out and fails sometimes you just need a clean break from it. Windows Vista came out and it was a failed product. Microsoft made a break from it and released Windows 7. Windows 8 came out and was a failed product. They moved on to Windows 10.

And what’s going to be the big selling point of launching more hardware in two years?

Steer your studios into making games for the new hardware. They just pulled 2 entire publishers off the market. They can furnish their console. Sony puts out their PS5 Pro in 2024 and in 2025 instead of putting out the Xbox Series X Pro you put out the new hardware. Microsoft's most successful attempt at a console was when they leaped ahead of Sony and put out their new hardware first getting a headstart.

Again Nintendo put out the Wii U in 2012 and in 2017 they moved on. It got 5 years, it failed and that was that. The execution on the new product was right and it's has an outside chance to be their best selling hardware ever. It's within 20 million of passing even the Nintendo DS.

Series X already sold more than Wii U or and other “failed” console.

You guys just like to talk yourselves into circles on here.

The switch wasn’t backwards compatible. It was a clean break and they only sold like 10 million of them not 30.

The switch also has completely different functionality over the Wii U. Nintendo pivoted to their strengths which is portable.

There’s no real advantage to Microsoft cutting off the series consoles outside of changing the branding. They still have to release the games they announced like 4 years ago.

The Series consoles are probably going to sell less than the Xbox One console family. In their best territory they've fallen 10% behind the Xbox One's pace life to date compared. It's a failed product. It came out gave it a try and it's sales are abysmal now and cratering fast. They aren't going to recover. We're over 3 years into this.

They need to start steering their best titles with the most chance of success towards development for some piece of hardware not called the Xbox Series that much of the general public is indifferent to.

Look at what they're going through to sell these things for Black Friday $50 off, Diablo IV for free, and free $75 gift cards. When you gotta bribe people heavy to buy your product like that it's not a good look. Sony's like you can pay us full price and we'll give you a free game. That's it.

That's what I'm saying. For the first year or 2 you can even have cross platform games from first party. Allow third parties to do cross platform games as long as they want. The Xbox Series has the stench of failure attached to it now. They out here giving away the farm trying to get people to buy them because nobody has any level of excitement for the console anymore.

If they want people excited about their brand again they need a new product and they need to come out the gate with impressive titles for it. Or they can drag this corpse of a console around for many more years and then try to match Sony's release cadence and get steamrolled in a head to head contest again.

Nintendo's core audience is different than Sony/Xbox; 13-26 year olds.

Nintendo aims for the 5-12 Demographic and Post-26 year olds; Kids and Family.

If your a family, and you want to play video games with your kids... most likely you would go for Nintendo; more simple controls and more family-friendly options.

Nintendo also gained a good portion of the people who played NES back in the day, with palatable titles that someone who might've stopped playing consoles years ago.

You can’t get the current model of the PS5 at any real discount. At best you get a free game. They’ve only discontinued the old model to get rid of them.

Microsoft had the Diablo IV model Series X for $450 with a $75 gift card. That’s almost $185 in value. That’s crazy. You don’t see any other company giving away that much value with a purchase.

The only reason they’re giving away so much is because the parent company can easily eat that loss. Hell are they even profitable on selling the hardware yet?
