Everyone loved the 360, but you know? Even with the overall success they lost in terms of sales that generation, to arguably PlayStations biggest screw up and weakest console overall game content wise. On top of that a lot of the 360 sales were people who bought it 2 or 3 times because of the RROD.
People don't even know the real reasons they feel like the 360 was a top 3 console for them.
-
Online was a fair superior experience on 360
-It was easier to develop for, games actually got made with the Xbox in mind 1st and then possibly ported.
-MS was paying out for exclusive games, this goes hand and hand with the above.
The few studios Xbox actually had where only on like part 2 or 3 of the hit series like Gears or Halo so it was still fresh.
Playing with your friends is key to any consoles success. The harder it is to play with or the same games as other people are the harder it will be for you to succeed.
MS had a perfect Storm of everything, and still lost in sales against PS3. Most people least favorite PS system lol.
The Xbox was simply ahead of it's time and even coming off the 360 success stans still hated on the Xbox 1 because the Xbox was beginning to look like a actual threat to PlayStation (much like today)
The very thing y'all hated on Xbox1 for our the game you've fully embraced in your everyday life.
From the Kinect listening to you or spying to digital games and media to always being online.
Ill go ahead and say this again 3rd party multi platform games are more important for a MS/Sony/Google/Amazon than anything else, it's where the real money is at. Period.
Its the reason you see Sony scrambling to to get a successful GAAS under their belt. I know y'all like to hype up these console sales but with the PS5 1, there is more than meets the eye and two it doesn't really make them money like that.
engagements>>>> one time 60-70 dollar sales of games that cost millions to make on a one time purchase of some hardware. 2 in a 8 year period if you lucky
