To do 100 in one sitting mike dolce recommends taking a 10 second break every 10 reps or a 25 seconds break every 25 reps.

Ima try it :leon:

Push ups are an endurance exercise. If you do three sets of 60 a day, you'll easily bang out way more than you think in no time. If I cut back down to the 155-165 range, I honestly think I could do 80 no problem.

THe leaner and more used you are to doing them, the easier they will get imo.

@Milk N Cookies Thanks! I have been going to Orange Theory since Feb.- I have always HATED group classes, but this one is geared towards everyone doing it at their own pace- it's like 'group' personal training (I know, an oxymoron). It's pricier than I ever thought I'd pay, but it's totally worth it if you're serious about any goals.

I'm always ok with cardio- but I used to play favorites with weights. That's why I never got my upper body strength up. I'm slowly starting to feel more balanced :smile:

80-100 I think.
I used to do 4 sets of 60 and with the last one I always push it to 70 and higher(stopped doing em recently)

man I remember when doing 15 was hard for me when i was like 13 :sadcam:

i can crank out 25 - 30 if im fresh. i weigh 290 so thats pretty good imo.

when i was in better shape and weighed 240 i cranked out 64 once. thats my high. gotta get back there :wow:

I can knock out 40-45 straight w/ some incline.

I can do 100 if I'm rested, stretched, and warmed up. I routinely do sets of 75 regular pushups and sets of 50 close grip/core focused pushups.

lat pull downs

do you go to the gym? most gyms have a pull up/chinup/dip "machine" that counters your weight

Pulls ups are one of the best workouts you can do, especially for your back. I don't know why most ppl just don't do them. maybe because they are hard, or maybe cuz you are afraid to look weak in teh gym...I dunno

but pull ups work so many muscles, mostly your lats(and bi's) so work on building up your lats, using other exercises....like lat pull downs.


how is the machine? i consider myself doing alright lifting but I still can't do many pullups. Do you think the machine with the counter weight in effect will help me get better at pullups?


i've used the machine many times before but never consistently

I lift 5 days a week and I still make sure to get my pullups and pushups in.

Weightlifting=Weight Room Strong
Pushups/Pullups= Real Life Strong

That's the truth! When I was 19 and motivated I peaked at 600 pressups in 15 minutes,50 at a go. 22 years later on and off working out and busy I've restarted and can do 45 max. Within 3 weeks I must do 50. But elbows give me s hit. Pressups are the best bodyweight workout for weight control.

i've used the machine many times before but never consistently
yea the machine is fine, its like anything else, just keep working on it until you are strong enough to do your own body weight then ditch the machine

There are full push-ups and there are partial push-ups. If anyone can do more than 100 push-ups with no breaks is probably doing partial push-ups.
