@The HONORABLE SKJ[/USER] @Poitier or @SunZoo try something thought provoking to push these ideas forward the threads are dull. 2-3 pages max.. but we're supposed to be up in arms regarding the obvious

The next predictable complaint/realization anti CAC thread

"how many black people work for/own the record companies that sign and distribute black music"

No shots @1984 but come on fellas... This shyt is getting old and tired. If you just woke up in 2016 and realized we"re end users in this culture/game you've got a long way to go..

exactly. ..which is why I find it exhausting to speak about it

I'm tired of us spewing this rhetoric about these white award shows and media outlets not truly representing us (blacks)

what do you expect to happen:manny:

when u don't set up your own infrastructure?

what you WONT DO...the OTHER MAN WILL DO....

I get numerous requests to write and work for media outlets ...

and to be honest the BEST OFFERS and situations come from the "white" owned establishments

I've worked for two URBAN media entities run by Black Men whom I was passionate to work for whom did nothing more than STIFLE and SUPPRESS my creativity..when I got "too deep" or uncovered some "DIRT" on a entity they didn't wanna offend FOR FEAR of MASSA taking away their advertising dollars

True Story and I have the AUDIO to back it up

my black business patnah and so called friend CENSORED me on my own damn radio show simply cause I called out the Major Labels (universal....warner) for their exploitive efforts in regards to streaming revenue and digital royalties.....

something I have spoken upon millions,of times on the COLI before it was a topic..

but now u got all these OVERNIGHT MILITANTS and TWITTER PSUEDO PRO BLACK NATIONALISTS getting all upset when they see some "cac" on the tv screen or dominating black airwaves

without failing to realize that's NOT THE REAL CULTURE VULTURE

the REAL ONE is the old guys wearing suits who are rarely seen in public as well as some of our OWN PEOPLE :mjpls:

speaking with their shareholders as reps of REAL CULTURE VULTURES such as VIVENDI..GOLDMAN SACHS...JP MORGAN..CLEAR CHANNEL and YUCAIPA CAPITAL just to name a few...

see KANYE is only ATTACKING THE BUFFER and, doing it for SELFISH reasoning
....

If he really BOUT DAT LIFE...he would try to,empower or create distribution by networking with other brothers and sisters..

and no I'm sorry TIDAL is NOT helping the situation :manny:

instead of BEGGING Mark Zuckerberg and Larry Page for bread ....

why not ask AL HAYMON..or RICHARD PARSONS or CATHY HUGHES or TYLER PERRY??

nah cause he is just like my former business partner RELUCTANT to work, with blacks on a large businesses platform out of INSECURITY AND TRUST ISSUES....

and that's why just like u Said WE ARE THE END,USERS (IGNORANT CONSUMERS) of a culture we NEVER OWNED ........

since it's exit from the parks,of NYC with BAMBATTA and HERC to it's first entry into the recorded music field. ....

ITS ALWAYS BEEN THE WHITE MANS GAME.....

we Are the REAL GUESTS. .as RENTERS

yall wanna talk OWNERSHIP holla at me. ..

but all this whining about why MASSA COMPLEX won't hire me...or why the GRAMMYS and OSCARS won't INVITE IS FRUITLESS damn their RETARDED...

FUKK DEM STOP BYATCHING AND GET OUR OWN SHYT!

Sh!t like this makes me look at the Benzino/Eminem situation a little bit differently in hindsight.

then you're still sort of missing the point. Zino was pulling the race card for the wrong reasons (he was just trying to win a rap beef).

If you want to look back, when Eminem said he was doing black music to get himself wealthy.. that's when you start seeing how this issue has trickled down into the conundrum it is today.

I'm not an Eminem fan at all but he's one of/if not the most talented white MC (outside of Bubba's second album) hip hop has seen. He's also offered plenty of insight into why he was so successful throughout his career.

Eminem has been honest. "Hey, I'm good but I'm very aware that I sell an extra 8 million albums because the game is rigged for me (rigged being privilege and having the machine behind him)"

Zino was a businessman who knew about the bureaucratic structure of the music business. Like @The HONORABLE SKJ said it's bigger than end users.... end users being silly ass fans or artists

This is ironic considered Drake fans used all these "cac rags" as ammo last summer when they were copping pleas for Drake's ghostwriting.

Quoting virtually every place in the OP nonstop....regardless of who wrote it, what color they were, or how long they been into rap. As long as it was saying :manny: "so what, ghost writing is no big deal" it was fair game.

So yeah....when they turn on Drake I fully expect people from this site to quote them. Not because anybody takes them seriously, but because Drake fans themselves set the precedent for their opinion holding weight. So when the time comes, they gotta take that medicine. :manny:

Perhaps I should have worded it differently, but I meant the entire situation. Benzino/Em was just an easier way to say it. Benzino/Em = Those who should have been more responsible with the culture/Machine.

It isn't "acting otherwise" it's acknowledging that the art/music is distinct and separate from
the venues and avenues which use the music as a means to make money.

Someone owning a club I perform at, does not make them a part owner in the creation
of "Black Music", they just gave me a venue to express myself and potentially introduce
my music to new people.
D'Angelo's music doesn't stop being "Black" because it's sold on itunes, you follow ?

Whenever we're discussing pop music, it's inevitable that discussions of disparities in representation
and financial gain will come up, however, this is a distinct and separate argument from whether or not
the music is still "Black" or comes from Black musicians across the nation.
I don't feel that's up for debate at all to be honest.

TRUTH! I've made the same point many times on here

That's my point; people put weight to the opinion of these journalists when it's convenient. But the kicker is the narrative around here is that Drake fans aren't "real" hip hop fans so it shouldn't surprise anyone they use these publications to prop up Drake. But "real" hip hop fans supposedly loathe these magazines but use the opinion of those writers to validate their own beliefs. You can't have it both ways.

As far as the overarching point....none of those listed in the OP are strictly hip-hop. So regardless of who worked there their primary interest probably ain't hip-hop. Even if their staff was 50% black that's not a guarantee the publication itself would treat the genre with more respect, or that the black staff would exclusively deal with hip-hop, or that the black people they hire even have an interest in it.

It would be like if McDonalds started making pizzas. They ain't hiring a pizza guy. They're gonna have the fry cook make them.

So they're probably grabbing an alt rock guy and asking him to review a rap album.

Not saying it's right but it is what it is. I don't read anything music related from any of those places so I'm pretty :yeshrug: about it.

Fred.
Stop it dude, you're no different than the sites in the OP

It's why every time you are challenged on an opinion you say cheap rhetorical tricks like " I've been listening to rap forever, etc"

Your opinion is no more valid than the people that write articles on complex. You are just an observer of the culture and give an opinion based on an insuffication perspective

And here that thread you lied about claiming Drake fans (such as myself who is black and represents the culture and embodies everything that comes with it) Were using these white people to help prop up Drake when that never happened

Exactly, I always questioned what do White posters like @hexagram23 actually get out of Hiphop. Black people talking about hood shyt and circumstances really entertainment to them or do they like rhyme schemes

Thee dudes aren't akin to any other part of black culture either. it's just rap, like what's the appeal?

some of the ratios actually aren't too bad (like complex 4/24) when compared to the general population. i think there is somewhere around 10% blacks in USA.....

wtf? Complex supposed to be a hip hop publication. They have a majority white staff writing about a black culture. The whole thing is fukked up
