I do wonder what a Coli publication would look like :jbhmm:

Because, of course, everyone here knows what they're talking about and have brilliant opinions about a lot of things and everyone agrees with a lot of things.

Yet the only person here who has opinions that are worth putting to paper is Walt. :jbhmm:

Stop stalking me

So the first time in months I quote you, you quote my catchphrase as though I frequently follow you? :russ: I've created some real parrots on this site :mjlol: How would you even know my catchphrase if you haven't been stalking my posts?

Straight Twilight Zone up in here.

My influence :blessed:

Keep stalking me :mjlol:

I really want to know the explanation for this though. We should spam the fukk out of these websites and get this shyt to go viral.

But it's deeper than we all know, I'm sure. I mean this can't just be coincidence that there is no major black publication in hip hop in 2016, that's straight up by design. These labels are in the pockets of these blogs and they get to control the narrative of the music we own but they distribute. This is how the "tastemakers" and gatekeepers control what we see and hear.

It's more subtle than that you moron, but you'll just keep quoting and quoting so I'm gonna stop here.

BTW...since when does anybody click on sites like the ones in the OP for reviews? The only reason why people go to those sites are for news, interviews and gossip :dame:

The same reason people click on the coli.

Even back in the magazine days...it was about the latest news & interviews.

Don't nobody give a shyt about these clowns opinions. :heh:

I've NEVER heard of a quality artist that's been broken in or discovered by a hip-hop publication...they usually jump on the wave after an artist has already created a buzz for themselves.

He's one of the few experienced writer it seems like. But @The HONORABLE SKJ drops good game too. There's a lot of posters who have insight and the ability to actually convey those thoughts. We just have to provide a platform that is worth the effort.

The main thing is it has to be comparable to these white publications. The quality of the website and writing can't be subpar in comparison if you want to be taken seriously.

Let them write something negative about Drake though. :mjlol: I've seen the opinions about these CAC rags change every few months or so. Just wait til these hipsters can't laugh at Drake's slaughter of Meek anymore and get at him for being mainstream and corny. Most likely will happen when Views drops. Then you all will post a thread on it and using these same hipster CACs as validation for your own opinion. Now, some of you will say "Bu bu bu bu Drake's a pop culture half Jew, they have authority to talk about him." Fair enough. But wait until they write another glowing Kendrick Lamar article. No more CACplex :scust: now it's back to Complex :blessed:

As for as the topic goes, hell no this doesn't surprise me. We need our own publications. And not shyt filled with video and IG thots, grill ads and weak reviews.
PREACH

I remember when nikkas(not on here wasnt on here when this happened) pre-TPAB didnt give a shyt what these magazines said(they got like this becase of Yeezus and the praise it was getting from the magazines) Then as soon as TPAB released nikkas started caring how Pitchfork and complex, and so on gave the Album a 9 or a 10.

It's deeper than that.

I've mentioned it before but the reason why they have so few black writers is because they only accept people with bachelors degrees from well known schools. At least Rolling Stone and Vice do for sure. Those schools don't admit many black students. All the reasons you can think of why are probably true: too expensive, won't accept kids from certain high schools, have to look better on applications than white or asian students, can't get a loan for the amount, no grants, they filter out names that don't sound safe, do not see journalism as a great job, etc etc etc.

There should be more black writers covering black music especially when that black music is heavily influenced by a previous generation of black music. Perfect example was the Rhianna album when the guy labeled it 'Island house' because he had no idea the sound existed already. His parents before him did not listen to that music and no one he knows has so it did not exist to him. It's a shame. Logically, the best writer would be a black man or woman who are heavy into Hip Hop but whos parents would always play soul, jazz, reggae, dancehall, etc etc when they were growing up.

Not saying that white people don't know anything about Hip Hop (that would cancel everything out for me) and can't be writers ever. Just not all the time. I would say the same thing if it was an all black staff from queens that did a magazine on Mariachi music.
