whats this we business? Aren't you white?

Also, Blacks in America had the same exact opportunities as Rick Ruben in the 80s? :ohhh:
why does everyone have this beleif that black ppl weren't making moves in the 80's?

Def Jam was small, nothing...they weren't doing shyt. They weren't a major. They were bareley doing shyt until Rubin linked up with Russell who had lots of connects.

TOTAL

:francis::dwillhuh::patrice::what::martin::wtb::why::whoo::mjpls:

and you have to divide that number by half, because at least half will be c00ns in an all-white environment.

Ye and Duck stans, how's that "massive critical acclaim" lookin? :sas2:

This is why I can't take their opinions seriously. Not to mention most of their articles REEK of self-importance and try-hard overdramatic penmanship. It's extremely embarrasing

fixed

It's really relevant. And you're white. What, you think you're above the white rap nerds who staff those publications or something?

When you're not mute (which is rare), you're posting dumb shyt. Stinking up the thread :scust:

great thread OP.
Not only did these frauds ruin hip hop, but they also ruined NYC. (or whatever urban area they colonize)
I dont pay attention to any of the publications you mentioned. Their opinions have zero value in my eyes and in the eyes of people i know.
They come from their dull, pill ridden suburb with their jordans and supreme snap back thinking they can shape culture in any way. :camby:

Put them all in a room, turn on a beat and watch these stiff fukks move and you'll quickly see that their opinions are laughable :camby:

truf

thats what yall get for shytting on the source for all those years when majority of their writers were black or hispanic.

The idiotic minority who say "The Source never mattered" conveniently forget this.

Same thing happens on the Coli. These posters will hate on me, a Black man verified that loves this culture, yet cape for some vulture who clearly doesn't know shyt and sits stiff when drums are played.

most these cats complaining, can't put together their thoughts correctly without coming off like a cornball..

there's ALOT of brothers & sisters putting it down out here.. but, it's clowns counting what White folks doing..

that ain't the business.. you can build with cats like-minded.. but, they ain't bout that.. they about whining..

make some moves.. waiting for folks to hand you something, ain't getting us nowhere..

Coming from you, this is hilarious considering your feelings get hurt when I post.

I know and love hip hop more than 99% of this site, including you. yet I'm sitting here with a WOAT banner, stalkers and hurt mods :mjlol:

Who are y'all kidding? I've been on this site long enough to know who's really about some shyt and who isn't. Most of you posters aint about shyt.

You have a point. It also got to be some legit cats doing the writeups and handling this shyt. I'd personally appoint
@hustlemania
@ODOT META
@The HONORABLE SKJ
@SunZoo
@Ziggiy
@Art Barr
@Billy Ocean
@Nomad1 can handle the Pac tributes
@FreshAIG

to name a few.. Theres more but I'm faded right now. We have to clean house first to be takened seriously. Right now The majority of this shyt is fested with fukkbowys, undercover CACs, trolls and dimwits who don't know nothing about the culture and constantly disrespect the forefathers and elements of it.

It can work because at this point we need a alternative

them nikkas are legit? :deadrose: I know at least half of them can't make a coherent sentence and can't employ critical thinking. Too scared to go against the grain and are massive dimwits (like you pointed out).
How the fukk are they gonna compete with Cacplex? :mjlol:

We have too many innovative minds on this site to have not formulate something like Vice or Complex already .... The Coli has the potential to evolve way more than what it currently is ... we just have to put the redundant disputes to a cease or atleast reduce it so we can come to a common objective

This is what it comes down to. We have enough good writers on this forum alone to put together a respected hip hop blog. We can't keep complaining and not offering solutions or an alternative.

We should hold some type of contest and let the forum decide, based on entry, who should become contributors in the startup.

The only thing is figuring out how the compensation works but at this point the work has to come before the money. We need black publications.

If it has to be a passion project for a couple months before money comes in, so be it. Most of these nikkas have thousands of post for free anyway lol.

listen im not gonna continue to go around in circles with you. you clearly are delusional if you think that blacks were ever on an equal playing field with whites.

you're being extremely ignorant if you think blacks weren't/aren't discriminated against in business.

this conversation isn't even for you.

I laugh when black people tell me they get music info from these sources anyway ....all of their writing reeks of culture loving white college graduates who just "loved them some nelly"...hip hop ain't dead, it's alive and kickin'...just the journalistic coverage of it is being done by Opie Cunningham:sitdown:

thats the thing that pisses me off too breh. go write a fukkin book if you wanna explore your corny writing skills. review the fukkin music and stfu

This is the sole reason why I don't take them seriously. I could care less who works for them because let's be real there's people on here who could do what they do. More importantly, it doesn't matter what race they are if we're ultimately deciding what's good/bad and not allowing them to sway/influence our opinions.

They aren't hiring these writers for their expertise in music anyway. They are hiring them because of their writing. The talented Black writers probably aren't applying for positions at these publications anyway. They are probably writing books or have their own blogs where they control the content.

when did I say it was equal?
you guys stay seeing imaginary words and shyt.

I'm just saying it was possible. And there were dudes that were putting in that work.

Stop acting like black ppl weren't capable of making moves and doing shyt...even in the 80's.

we all know their was discrimination, we all know that it was an up hill climb. But that doesn't mean there weren't dudes that were putting that work in.

It really is.

BTW, this is one of the most prime examples of white privilege I've ever seen.

Being able to work, write about, and document the art culture of black people while not being black and not having any black people around to aid in the process.

I don't know if I effectively phrased that right, but I hope people will get the point.

To be honest, Complex, Pitchfork, nor Rollingstone (well, Noisey does and they've really attempted to re-write history with some of their articles) pushes or promotes itself as an authority on Hip Hop. They just write articles on Hip Hop artists and review the music because they cover all genres and some of them multiple facets of entertainment. Over the past decade, it's the fans who've given those publications credibility. I mean, Entertainment Weekly also reviews music, but I don't think I've ever seen one of their reviews brought up. The only one I can think of is when Life Is Good had only been leaked for like an hour and they had a review posted and someone posted it on here.

same people saying they don't care will be twerking while crying tears of joy when these cornball white weirdo dudes give a rapper they love's album a great review. of course these type of publications love somebody like kanye, he's gay edge, he's the perfect blend of marcus garvey and madonna, i blame them for this dude being so unbelievably overrated on all levels. lil b, young thug, etc... i'm sure they champion these types too.

Let them write something negative about Drake though. :mjlol: I've seen the opinions about these CAC rags change every few months or so. Just wait til these hipsters can't laugh at Drake's slaughter of Meek anymore and get at him for being mainstream and corny. Most likely will happen when Views drops. Then you all will post a thread on it and using these same hipster CACs as validation for your own opinion. Now, some of you will say "Bu bu bu bu Drake's a pop culture half Jew, they have authority to talk about him." Fair enough. But wait until they write another glowing Kendrick Lamar article. No more CACplex :scust: now it's back to Complex :blessed:

As for as the topic goes, hell no this doesn't surprise me. We need our own publications. And not shyt filled with video and IG thots, grill ads and weak reviews.
