How mainstream do you see the Atheist movement becoming in the next 20-25 years?

i been seen what you were sayin but what i'm sayin is, regardless of whether or not you've done the math, the math is available to you should you ever decide. this can't be said for religion. consensus breaks among cultures like food delicacies

Well like I said earlier, Allah isn't a material thing so using material methods to prove His existence isn't possible. In that way, it was an overall bade example on my part. But the fact remains, availability or not, until you do the measurements you are believing what someone else tells you.

1st bold it shouldn't matter what i prayed for, the point is i prayed. how do i know whether or not god answered me? 2nd bold idk... i grew up religious and i still believe in god, i just aint arrogant enough to claim i know who how or what it is

It does matter. I think a lot of people have a misconception about Allah and His function. Allah isn't a super hero. His purpose isn't to save people from burning buildings. If you want a million dollars Allah doesn't just give it to because you pray for it. It doesn't work like that, friend. But Allah will guide you to a path that is straight and righteous. And if we become morally astute there is a promise of a better, more everlasting life after this. Do you believe in heaven and hell?

You say you believe in God. Allah is the Arabic word for God. Islam is a way of worshiping God/Allah. The Qur'an is a guide. Think of it as a road map. Much easier to get where you're going when you have that GPS.

So let me ask you this, are you searching for answers to your who how or what it is? If you believe in God and you believe you have a soul, then I think you owe it to your soul to at least learn about it. You don't have to accept but at least know what it is you're rejecting. Maybe God would bless you for your effort. Surely there can be no wrong in the pursuit of knowledge.

Somebody teach this cat the scientific method......

The Scientific Method >>>> using untested, religious philosophies or pseudo logic,

I swear people argue just to be arguing.

Please do the calculations breh......

You aren't understanding a word I type. I didn't know I was that deep.

Look at post 89, friend, and read the big red letters.

again breh the prayer shouldn't matter. its not about allah bein a superhero or a genie, its about gettin an actual response when you approach him with a prayer/question. waitin to see is NOT legit "response" unless you believed prior. and how come televangelists are the only ones that get to talk to god :wow:

:mindblown:

I'm a bit of an astronomer myself. Please forgive my earlier mistake. I've always been a numbers guy, not a wordsmith. But I track the moon at least 3 times a year for the beginning of Ramadan and the the 2 Eids. In fact, since we're on the subject do you know of Islam's contributions to the field of astronomy?

My bad breh, this part is actually correct.....

Maybe, but more importantly, the theory of God you are presenting is outside the scientific jurisdiction.

See, when you say the methods are simply believed to be true, you're wrong. You can test logic, or mathematical formulas yourself and you will find the results are the same whether or not you do them or I do them. If you find a formula for calculating the size of an object relative to another object, and find that it works for several earthly objects that you can see yourself, then you can use that same formula for any object, including one you have not directly seen up close yourself, like Jupiter. Unless you are denying the possibility of rules that govern or formalize reality, or denying the possibility of any knowledge at all, in which case you would have no reason to argue whatsoever, I don't see how you can avoid this

They are based on different degrees of belief, and different degrees of facts as well.
1. I think that was tha point dood was makin, that God (outsude of Christ) doesn't have a body susceptible to decay, disease, death, etc... God is an spiritual being, so He is unverifyable by scientific means, which study physical objects.

2.Unlike dood, if you look through biblical history, you can see peeps (especially in tha Old Testament) use their brains for battle strategy and tha construction of tha Ark of tha Covenant and tha temple that Solomon built usin tha blueprints scribed by King David.
Biblically, science hasn't been denied. Instead, it was utilized for God's people to move forward.
When facing insurmountable odds, tha Israeli/Gentile people were guided byfaith (or what a person may call luck or myth) by God's Word to make certain decisions and travel in certain directions that effected human history.
Some believed God guided themin life, while others believed they that took advantage of opportunities presented to them.
Ther was always "athiests/agnostics/free thinkers", but they and theists both shared free thought.
Freedom of choice is a biblical concept, even if it doesn't have anything to do with this discussion.

3.facts are facts. But, until man can prove otherwise, everything is theory.

Well looking at the culture of demons thats among us its obvious the believers are dwindling in western nations. I dont think devils will ever be able to take God out of africa and the middle east though. Ever. In a way many Europeans are going back to their original religions of pagan worship and the people that they influence around them are going with them.

Its so demonic, friends. :whoo:

that's because historically those societies are superstitious.

QUOTE=Fervid;1477618]At some point in our past there was no religion simply because our brains weren't evolved enough to conceive of such a thing. --Pre-theism

Then our brains evolved to a point where we began to question why things are the way they are, and we created gods and stories to answer these things. --Theism

Now we have science which explains with evidence why things are the way they are. This caused some of us to view these gods/religions as unnecessary. --Post-theism

I think the religious crowd will continue to thin out, but I think 20-25 years is too short or a time-scale. I think it will take at least a couple centuries before encountering a religious person will be like encountering an open atheist now.

Pre-theism? :heh:
The Abrahamic faiths span covers the origins of man. So what pre-theistic times are you talking about, friend? Do you have anything to back up what you claim?

Science can explain the way things are but that doesn't disprove God. All science explains is God's work. Every scientific discovery should draw man closer to God. Man discovers a new galaxy? Fine. Wonderful. But let's not ignore who created it, friend.

For you to say my stance is "ignore everything but religion" means you seriously lack understanding, or reading comprehension skills, or flat out intelligence. My stance is study and observe EVERYTHING and then you will see the magnificence of God. Don't try to pass your own blind and ignorant ways off on me. It is you who is doing the ignoring, friend. As vast and complex as the universe is and you take it all for one big accident? An accident caused by nothing? And you're the one using logic?

This is a prime example of why HL is such an oxymoron and joke. How can it be Higher Learning when most of it's posters haven't done any learning? I'm going to assume your parents were Christians. Christianity has a long history of battling science so in your mind you think religion and science are at war because you equate religion to the only one you know. As I said, this is an assumption, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Islam is different. Islam doesn't have a history of battling science, in fact, to the contrary it has a history of evolving science. Are you aware of the contributions from the Islamic world to science, medicine and mathematics? We already touched on astronomy earlier in the thread. Advancements in human anatomy, surgery, algebra...

Ibn al-Haytham (Alhazen), a Muslim, is called the father of the scientific method that atheists swear by. :heh:
He was simply following the orders of Allah... study the universe and find an inconsistency. When you find it perfect, give praise to The One who created it. And it is a marvelous creation, as science has proved.

I heard this atheist once speak of the vastness of the universe and then concluded we are here randomly. The vastness of the universe should show you how blessed you are. Alhamdulillah.

Yet you deny your own soul and classify yourself as an animal, which Allah says he put here for the service of man. Why would anyone want to reduce their life to worthlessness? Allah says He created you special, Shaitan vowed to make you debase yourself. Why is it you have no sense of dignity?

The bible warned in the last days, we are seeing a rise in demonic individuals who practice pagan rituals an indulge in unrighteous filth. I say bring it on,
Let the true followers of the most high stand up and not cower anymore, let filth and sodimites and vagabonds spread their unholy ways, and be smitten down.
