How mainstream do you see the Atheist movement becoming in the next 20-25 years?

wize fool is a great screen name, considering. you clearly think you're wise but you're actually a fukking fool.

on the one hand you're fairly agreeable with science (which heavily deals in actual logic and evidence and such), then on the other, you want to turn around and give all credit to something that has no logic or evidence or anything other than an old azz religion ingrained in your culture.

take the 'mental shackle' bullshyt somewhere else. you're holding on to nothing but an ancient BELIEF system and trying to pass it off as fact, when there's nothing...i repeat NOTHING to support that (a 'holy' book isn't good enough kid), let alone nothing to support that it was YOUR god (or any other for that matter) who created and governs all this.

if you want to believe it's all allah or whatever, fine. that's your belief. but you have no legs to stand on. none. thus, you're a fukking midget in the world of science.

Ok, prove Allah doesn't exist.

At least I have a book, all you have is a post full of anger and little else. Me believing in Allah causes you to use profanity? Calm your nerves and let's discuss. Surely your vocabulary is developed enough to express yourself without sounding like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum.

That's your proof? You're not even using real words.

You are the one asking me to physically prove the non-physical, showing a complete lack of understanding of what we're dealing with.

But when I ask you to prove you're position, suddenly I'm the one being ludicrous? I'm am simply using your own flawed logic against you but that too went right over your head. Basically, you are asking me to give up my position of understanding and join you in cluelessness? No thank you.

I can't stand supposed intellectual debates where people begin their point by saying "you're a fakkit" or "you're a fukking fool". It kind of takes the intellectualism out if it. When this is a person's main argument, it's easy to be appear condescending when responding.

Science can explain the way things are but that doesn't disprove God. All science explains is God's work. Every scientific discovery should draw man closer to God. Man discovers a new galaxy? Fine. Wonderful. But let's not ignore who created it, friend.

I'll answer this -

It's impossible because the existence of a god is non-falsifiable. There's nothing that could possibly disprove the existence of Allah (or any other god) because you could always attribute the lack of evidence to god's will or something.

That doesn't mean that any of these gods is likely to exist, only that they by definition can't be disproved. In fact I would be hesitant to believe in anything that's non-falsifiable, because you could make up all sorts of silly things (like invisible unicorns) that you can't prove don't exist.

Logically the burden of proof is on the believer to prove that a deity exists.

Actually, there is no burden of proof at all. You are free to believe whatever you want as am I. At some point, logic and reasoning comes into play and it boils down to was the universe created by something or nothing? Again, you are free to believe what you will but don't talk about burden of proof.

And what is with this invisible unicorn analogy? What do invisible unicorns have to do with the creation of the universe? What logical purpose would this invisible unicorn serve? I believe God created the universe and since the universe exists there is a connection there. Invisible unicorns serve no purpose in this life.

I converted my Dad from Christianity to Deism. Not a full blown Atheist, but considering his background that was pretty far :manny:

Pretty sure it will be much more mainstream.

You completely missed the point.

The point is, if I say that an invisible unicorn created the universe, you can't prove me wrong. I could be like "Prove the invisible unicorn doesn't exist" and you wouldn't be able to do it.

That doesn't mean it's a logical statement. Same goes for any deity.

Exactly. Wize fool believes w certainty that god exists when in actuality nobody could possibly know for sure. And his argument against my "who created god?" question was complete crap as well. Matter of fact his whole "prove Allah doesn't exist" argument is exactly my point...it's just as impossible for me to prove that he doesn't exist as it is to prove he exists. All I'm saying is at the very least , science relies on research and proof to help explain the unexplainable. Once again, I'm more against the shackles of organized religions that are meant to enstill fear and control us than I am against the idea of a higher power. But I will never just believe something exists with zero empirical evidence simply because I was brainwashed to believe it does from a young age. Embracing atheism/agnosticism was really an intellectual awakening where I finally allowed myself to question things that have been beaten into my brain from a very young age.

You have to be trolling...it's quite easy to see the point he's making
