I’m glad I found this thread. Was alternating 30s @ 8 / 2m @ 4 for a total of 30 min. It was exhausting me but not something I could sustain. Tried 12/3/30 and I couldn’t do 12 the entire time so I’m doing 8/3/30 for now.

I do 30 minutes 3 times a week on non-lifting days. I started with an incline of 6 and speed of 2.5. I'm now at a 6 incline and speed of 2.8. I just milk it until it gets too easy and then I up the speed a little. That keeps me between 145-150 beats per minute. At the end of my 30 mins I'll raise it to incline 15 and do that for a minute or so. Then my cardio session is finished. Easy to stick to and I never dread doing it.

What's your incline?

If you're just walking that's a decent pace but its not really long enough to be effective. If your incline is higher than that can be just fine.
Dang..its just a simple treadmill so no incline but for an obese person weighing 344 lbs is it still not effective? Im just starting out exercising

That's effective.

Definitely keep that up the main thing is at that pace do it more frequently. Because while it's low intensity obviously the more you do it, the more effective it'll be. And it's not something thats going to drain you or tax your system and make it hard to do every or more often.

It shouldn't take much before you increase the time to 35 mins, 40 mins, 45 mins, 50 mins, to one hour. Whether you do it everyday or every other day.

I'm a fool. I'll get on a treadmill and read a book, or listen to an audio book. You can get on the treadmill and walk while you watch a movie. Regardless of what you do, just keep moving.

Eventually the 2.6 will feel like nothing and you might move it to 2.8 or 3.0 or 3.2. Your body is going to get used to the movement and as it does just adjust the variables to make it more effective but not difficult. Not something where you are going to be too sore, which isn't usually a problem with treadmills. You'll want it enough to challenge yourself or be effective but not enough to want to quit or be unable to complete.

For me I know I can walk or jog for hours and I've done it, the issue for me is I don't always have hours to walk or jog so I have to increase the speed and incline.

Since you aren't using the incline slowly adjust your time up to maximum one hour and once that's nothing for you- then go back down to just 30 mins but work on increasing your speed.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's not going to be a problem unless you plan on walking or running another 100+ miles on it. Just order some more and keep walking til it gets there.

Id it ain't lubed it'll be fine, one of the main thing is you'll want to make sure there ain't dirt or sand/hard particles under the belt between that and the board. In which case you can put a bath towel under the belt and run the treadmill at 1 to 1.5 and it'll just collect all the dust and dirt.

One of my side hustles is buying treadmills for cheap off Craigslist and fb market. Too many are given away for free or for up to $100 and if anything is wrong with them they usually just need a new belt. And when they do it ain't because of over use and tears because of, it's usually because of a massive tear or the dog chewed it up or some shyt. And replacement is pretty easy (for me but then again I like the tear down and rebuild/recalibrate process)
