How long did it take you to start making beats you like?

To be honest, It took me at least 1 whole year when i bought the MV-8000 when i was 16. Than i bought the MV-8800 when i was 18.
Than switched back to FL Studio when i was 19!

I was just fukking around with FL Studio some certain day which i still had on my laptop...
and i realized it was just much easier and faster to use.
I could make much complexer stuff on FL than on that huge sampler.
I could use tons of effects instead of 1 at a time in the MV.

Watching Tutorials is really important though!

Some people pick it up faster than others but for me a little less than a year. If you wanna get better you just gotta practice, like any other thing you do. Try remaking some of your favorite beats so you can understand the process a little better, read up on music theory and mixing whenever you can, and learn some sound design. Some of the easiest sounds to make are sub basses, 808s, leads, etc. then graduate to pads and plucks/synths eventually.

Just don't force yourself to make beats when you don't want to or else you'll burn yourself out. Whenever you have beat block or don't feel like making anything just read up on whatever I mentioned above.

gotta respect the process of development. I started workin in FL when Fruity Loops 5 was out. Back in 04. I was 10 and my older brother was fukking with it so I got used to it. By the time I was 15 I was making beats that I loved.

My advice is just to take your time. FL studio is 30% know how, and 70% creativity. The interface is not that hard to learn and is cake compared to Logic and Protools.

If you take your time, and get the right VSTs you'll be fine breh.

it's a process breh.. just keep pushing and working on your craft but make it a point to finish EVERY BEAT you start. If you have the patience and the drive you'll be good and able to find your own sound.
I try bruh but I start everything I make feeling like
hot-ass-beat-clap-o.gif

then I come back to that shyt like 2 days later and I'm on some

:russ: @ some of the replies in here.

It takes a very long time to get good at making beats man, I def don't want to mislead you on that fact. But I've always had fun making beats and always enjoyed the beat I was making while I was in the process of putting it together.

Like some other brehs said, I may end up coming back to it later like :upsetfavre:

But that's OK cause when I load up the next one I'm back feeling like :gladbron:

Now that I'm looking into this shyt it's becoming painfully clear that Ima need a midi pad to make any decent melodies. Whats some good midi pads for like $100 and below

I've been doing this as a hobby for years and it's only started to make sense to me the last couple months. :pachaha:

The first thing I you should do is buy some quality speakers and headphones. You'll never improve if you cant hear the mistakes. Second, understand how to read the meters.

Im on struggle mode right now famo. For the next 3 or so months its gonna have to be either a decent midi keyboard or some nice headphones and speakers. Ima probably go with the midi for now
