been making beats off and on for the better part of 10 years, started to take it seriously closer to 6 years ago once i got my record collection up...

to this day i still don't make exactly what i want to hear, i go back to all my beats and try to improve and practice with them

i have my finished beats that i like on my phone, nothing leaves the house til i can let it rock on repeat and feel happy with every element

might sit on a beat for a couple years and keep digging til i find the last element i think it needs

About three years I learnt to play on a Casio it was a pos like 5 sounds or something u could only record moved on to a triton that's when the magic started to happen I spen whole days locked in the room I say two years into that is when I started to notice the quality change went out and brought a fantom man the drums on that was next level car broke down had to sell them both. Let me say going from a workstation to fl is a major change I miss my 88 keys and I despise having to deal with coy charging and what not and finding sounds is a pain All in all I will admit I can see the flexibility that midi programs offer and how ppl fall in love with it but I'm stacking my money for this motif

I use mouse & laptop only.
I have 2 Turntables + Mixer but i haven't sampled a vinyl in about 5 years. (strictly mp3's)

If you can't play the keys a keyboard is not really gonna help a lot i think.
My experience is that you do need a lot of patience in the Piano Roll.
I gets the job done with the Piano Roll though.

Yep, i throw all my drums in the FPC and sequence them in the Piano Roll.
Than i got different Mixerchannels for my Kick, Snare, Hi-Hat, Percussion etc. where i route the drumsounds through from the FPC.

I wanted to get the MPC Renaissance but i had people telling me FL Studio was easier for sampling.

I'm tryna find resources to learn from while I have the block. Sometimes I just make a ton of projects hoping one clicks

I started to really get into my own work when I just left school and hit college. I got a firmer understanding of how to mix my beats, chop samples and make my own synths. Being a pianist already didn't hurt either.

I'm making beats again and just now started to like my own work again. It takes time when we find our musical identity.
