and I already consceded that Shaq had a better overall career, but I'd still take Hakeem in his prime over Shaq in his prime.

Shaq's resume doesn't even begin to stack up against Kareem's, (but few players can). Kareem was the dominant force in the league for over a decade and he dominated on BOTH ends of the court.

When people talk about Shaq's dominance it's almost entirely based on what he did offensively. He wasn't bad defensively by any stretch but he was never close to dominant either...Every other center I've mentioned was dominant on BOTH ends of the court, that's why I'd take them in their primes over Shaq.
