It will take years to really tell. Wolverine and Spider-Man weren't super popular until the 80s and 90s. Iron Man wasn't an A-lister until his movies came out. I do think this movie will put BP in the A-lister category though. T'Challa, Wakanda and Killmonger are already household names.
None of those things are ‘household names’. The movie has only been out for a few weeks.
It being a household name would imply that every household in America is familiar with it regardless if they have seen the movie or not.
McDonalds is a household name even to someone who’s never eaten there. Everyone knows the Big Mac, everyone knows chicken McNuggets. These are what you call household names. Walmart = household name. New York Yankees = household name.
You don’t need to see a single movie or read a single comic to know who Superman is. You are indoctrined to know who he is by the time you are 3 or 4 years old. He transcends the world of comic book heroes. It’s hard to even go a single day without hearing or seeing some reference to superman or the S shield logo... probly see it on a bumper sticker or something.
Black panther is only now taking his first babysteps into mainstream consciousness. Superman, Batman, Spiderman, etc... have already been through this 60-70 years ago and have been permanent mainstays. With prominent appearances in just about every form of media you can name.
I don’t care how many people saw BP... no one knows who the fukk KILLMONGER is. More people know who ALFRED THE BUTLER is.
You need to give it A LOT more time.
