4/5 but i have my gripes with it

-Nicki Minaj intro is awful
-random ass features (RZA on Appalled)
-Runaway's last 3 minutes
-All of the lights is a clusterfukk of unnecessary features
-Monster has no replay value cause of Jay's wackass verse

i dont see how one could possibly say this is his best effort, but whatever..opinions

The album didn't hold up past the Good Friday leaks imo...

I think I like 4-5 songs on it max...

As far as rappers with inferior skill doing grandiose experimental work, I think Cudi did a much better job with Man On The Moon 2...

every single song, listen to the vocabulary he uses for the album, the themes themselves are just braggin ina whole different type of a$$hole way. theres no redeeming quality about anything

monster (obvious), all of the lights, hell of a life (sharing bytches), devil in a new dress has him chanting satan in the background, kid cudi singin bout living this down down down down, blame game revenge cheating. its like hes king a$$hole on this album. its perfectly executed imo but damn it hits. got my girl telling me shes hearing line from the bible n shyt. had to call it quits

Is hip hop, just a euphemism for a new religion

the more i listened to it the more i saw what he was trying to do. its an album of excess and symbolism/subliminals. the production on this album is ridiculous too. i just gotta be in a real fukk everyone mood for this

I was half kidding. Im aware of its celebrating the darker spoils of excess. Just hadn't caught the literal devil chants.

I suppose since I've actually seen the dark side of life, some fakkity second fiddle rapper brat who's fame has opened up an insidious world for him celebrating these destructive behaviors come at a high cost IMO.

He's a vile, shameless, immature half wit who tried to make his "statement" album but ultimately fell on his face and needed WTT to recapture his commercial footing.

Some of the beat were ill but as soon as he starts in with the goofy noises from his pie hole I can't hit eject fast enough.

is this ish still the masterpiece the media said it was. everything the media said was dumb for a simple fact, a piece of art can only be judged after time passes. these initial notices are kinda dumb given the album was getting perfect scores from black media like XXL and The Source to cac outlets like Pitchfork and RollingStone

if you want to know what songs on there i think are truly great 2 years out and i think i can listen to forever:

Dark Fantasy

just the first track. its still a good album. but is this sh!t really life changing?

The REAL reason behind anyone ever saying the albums a classic.

Of course the album has nice tracks, but is it a classic? Never.

Ye's first 3 Lp's >>>> MBDTF

My question is wow can someone can enjoy an album with such an mediocre "emcee" with such an annoying. The only way for him to get attention is to overproduced is what. At least in his first two album he keep it hip hop with beautiful soul sample. Now his productions sceams "look at my genius never seen before production sampling some obsur europpean cat"

I'm not saying Kanye doesn't mess with guys like Raekwon. I'm saying a lot of people that in real life I see f*ck with the album are people who don't like the majority of golden era rap and who don't listen to many hip hop artists outside of Kanye, Jay-z, Eminem and Outkast's later material.
Of course most rap fans who buy the albums are white but not all white people have the same kind of love for rap. There are the people who appreciate the whole hip hop culture and listen to all the legends of the game and then there are the casual radio fans who don't know much about hip hop's history. I was just saying that the latter, in my experience, tend to really like Kanye whereas they don't like more old school artists. For example, they will like the song with Raekwon's verse on Kanye's album because it's on his album but they would never go out and buy OB4CL. Matter of fact, they prolly wouldn't even know his name, just a voice on a Kanye track.
I'm absolutely overgeneralizing here but this was all in response to the claim that people who don't like MBDTF don't appreciate real music or whatever.

Why are you bringing up casual radio fans? We're talking about all the music critics who praised MBDTF. The ones who have been covering hip hop since the 80s and 90s.

Wow

People really think this is a classic album? Are these the same heads that dig Recovery and BP3.

The album had its great moments but lets be real Devil In A new Dress and Runaway were both over produced with unnecessary forced music solos. The originals shyt on the album version although Ross off topic verse was nice.

How can an album that ends with Hell Of A Life, Blame Game, and Lost In The world be considered classic? shyts baffling to me. The album was a solid 4/5.

LR and College Dropout don't belong in the same discussion as this overrated nonsense....
