If you believe the Berbers were and are Black, state your reasons as to why that is. My definition of Blackness does not prevent you from proceeding.

the original population has always been there. The berbers have been there for like 5-10 thousand years.

not true

there are wall painting from 5k years ago of a lush and green Sahara with Girafees and Elephants.....and the people who drew those wall paintings showed themselves as tall skinny black people not too different from the type of Africans we see in Southern Sudan (i.e. the Dinka).

Not true. Berbers are native to the land and look exactly how they've always looked.

and you know this how?

North Africa before being a desert was lush and green. Not too different from the rest of Africa. The original inhabitants of North Africa were black people that migrated from the South because of the migration of the animals. The modern Berbers look the way they do as a result of centuries of mixing with outsiders. Once the sahara built up, it stopped the migration of more black people north, so the population got whiter. Even with all the mixing there are still many berbers who look black. The Tuareg tribe being the most prominent.

look at my last post

it shows how the original inhabitants of North Africa that most present-day Berbers descend from were black.

Images from the Pastoral Period seem to suggest that black people lived in the Sahara at that time. Black people, some of whom wear garments and adornments and have hairdos like some current tribal groups in Africa, are often shown among herds of cattle . Some show men riding n bulls. There are also scenes of couples making love and women carrying children on their backs.

Little is known about the artists that created the Saharan art work. They may be ancestors of people that still roam the desert or they may be ancestors of people that live today in the Sahel or areas further south in Africa. The long hairdos of some rock art figures found in Libya are similar to those of the modern Wodaadbe people of Niger. Body decorations found on rock art images in Chad resemble body art that found in the Surma of southern Ethiopia today.

Do you agree or disagree with my points on the Berbers?
Disagree.

Problem is, you never defined your definition of blackness. Even when you were asked three times you never gave it. So I am going to assume that your definition is outdated.

Instead of looking at the Berbers through the eyes of Western categorizations, we should see the Berbers as they are. For the most part Berbers are an African people, who speak a language that is restricted to Africa, and practice a culture that is African specific. We must also keep in mind that Berbers are not one group of people. They are very diverse. The term Berber is an umbrella term that is applied to the native populations of the Sahara and North Africa.

Because I'm native to the continent.

Stop reading cac material, it's bad for your health. Always rely on DNA, it's mapped within us all that no one can cheat.

E1b1b1b1 -- Berberbs. No relation to subsaharan blacks, their close cousins are ethiopians.

Berberbs were quite successful from keeping their land from Arab invaders until about 600AD, which is recent. Read the battles yourself. They adopted Islam by choice to assist the Arabs, in turn, they weren't 'purged', but welcomed as brothers.

Same happened in Mali (Mansu's kingdom), Chad and Nigeria. That is why these areas don't have a crazy amount of black arabs like the Sudanese. Are you going to tell me these 3 countries are also 'arabized'? of course not, the people look the same as they always have.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haplogroup_E-P2 - the haplogroup E includes ALL AFRICANS (so that means west/south/east/west africans)

if you wanna break it down even more, the subclade E-M215 which the one your referring to as the Berber marker is also found among the present day East Africans http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haplogroup_E-M215

in fact the group its most highly expressed in are the Borana of Kenya/Ethiopia and the Berbers

FYI for those that don't know the Borana are a tribe within the larger Oromo ethnic group that makes the largest single ethnic group in all of East Africa

for those that don't know here is how the Borana look: http://kwekudee-tripdownmemorylane.blogspot.com/2013/07/borana-people-largest-oromo-pastoralist.html

You basically just said exactly what I said.

I don't know how you're refuting that berbers aren't apart of E1b1b1b1 which are the majority in north africa. They are light because of the region they are in, they evolved that way. They're a mere stone throw away from Italy. :heh:

Berbers are not white nor arab, they are light skin africans. Everyone on the continent knows this. We do not view them as arabs. Arabs do not view berbers as arabs.

Black is such a broad term that has been narrowed down by western civilization
The public opinion of black, is the West African phenotype. Which is an utterly disgraceful piece of disinformation.

even if black is just considered a west African phenotype, most black Africans still fall within roughly the same look just like most europeans and asians....sure there are differences but are the differences any wider than you see between the Swedes and Italians......or how about the Japanese and Indonesians?

can someone really say that this Borana (Oromo) guy looks any different than a random west African in Nigeria for instance?

_45539244_king466ap.jpg

To me West and East Africans look roughly the same in the same way that a swede doesn't look that different than a italian.

Just so some clowns don't come in here thinking this guy is from some west african tribe, here is an article about him being named leader of the Borana in Ethiopia. http://gadaa.com/oduu/?p=538

People just like to focus on the extremes when comparing West and East Africans. Sure you got your extremely light skin and fine haired Habesha chicks but there are also light skin West Africans like the Fulani. You also have very dark skin, wide nosed, nappy hair East Africans like the Karayu Oromo of Ethiopia.

Can anyone watching this video really make an argument that these East Africans look fundamentally different than West Africans? These guys are Oromo. They have very dark skin, curly afro textured hair, wide noses.

Is anyone really gonna argue that they aren't black?
