I regularly posted progress pics in the gym thread when this forum first started; I'm furtherest thing from being fat.

I ran track in HS and got offered multiple scholarships for football (which I had to forego because of injuries).

You don't know the first thing about me with your ignorant head ass.

The c00n in you can't fathom that someone can actually write paragraphs and be athletic, it has to be one or the other, which leads me to believe you're either projecting being the one without an athletic bone in his body or you're just a dumbass c00n.

I was wondering if someone was going to come in here and be honest.

Right, so it's less about the style of play y'all have a problem with and more about the players, themselves, and what they represent. Y'all issue is that the NBA has become global to the point where these foreign players have taken over and it's no longer an American game, is that suffice to say? Y'all don't care if Jokic posts up, or shoots midrange shots or is tough, because he's just a fat Euro and it has no meaning to y'all?

If we can establish that, then at least we can stop the complaints about 3s and any other red herring, and talk about how folks don't like the NBA because it's become unAmerican.

Does anything need to be changed?

I don't know.

I don't think this era is any different to any other - it's modeled on current trends and the progression of the game. I mean, it's ad nauseam at this point where it's got to be stated that every era had its detractors. The 90s was even shytted on at the time (even by the players, themselves). Which is why I don't find all these complaints about today's game surprising, I just find it strange that cats act like other eras weren't criticized/hated too.

No i dont agree with this insinuation. I love watching Luka,of course Giannis. These guys are what you call superstars. So its just this one particular European who gets all this hype that we dont care about:mjpls:

Mind you,i at least stopped denying his game because it became impossible. The fact is just that Jokic cant carry this league and you know that. You compared him to Marc Gasol, not Pau even, but Marc. And actually are sitting here wondering we arent salivating or rushing to the t.v to watch him play:mjlol:

Could one Tim Duncan carry the NBA? No.
Could a league full of Tim duncans carry the league? No. And thats basically what Jokic is. Undeniably good, but boring to watch unless its a battle between him and an equally talented big man. Wouldnt count on seeing that to often in this league.

But big men havent made the needle move for a long time. Its definitely mostly about the abundance of threes for me:scust:

What's the difference between watching Luka/Giannis and Jokic?

I mean, Luka gets a lot of hype too, so why do you care for him, but then use the hype that Jokic gets against him?
Mind you,i at least stopped denying his game because it became impossible. The fact is just that Jokic cant carry this league and you know that.
Carry this league in terms of what?

He's must-see every time he takes the floor. He's one of the most imaginative and dominant players to ever play the game. Unless your point of contention is about his lack of marketability, which seems rather futile to argue about given the landscape of the NBA has changed drastically from its American roots.
You compared him to Marc Gasol, not Pau even, but Marc. And actually are sitting here wondering we arent salivating or rushing to the t.v to watch him play:mjlol:
Reading comprehension is important.

I was talking about how he's able to be effective on defense, because he sheers similar athleticism and BBIQ to Marc (who is a DPOY).

Do you think the sheer majority of NBA fans find this level of play to be boring?

The right way, the wrong way and the Max Power way
It's not about me caring about what they think. It's about sifting through all this constant negativity about the game (which is rooted in confirmation bias and bullshyt), when it could just be easily solved if posters were honest with themselves. There's nothing wrong with critiquing the league if it comes from an honest place and/or is based on verifiable evidence. But it's just the same old nonsensical, hypocritcal, baseless rhetoric, over and over.

Then we could all just move on.

We wouldn't need posts/threads made every other day about how bad the NBA is (from folks who supposedly don't watch it anymore).

Same folks have been complaining since 2015.
People aren't going to stop expressing their views because of these threads. You say the NBA is in great shape, why not ignore the noise and enjoy?

One poll from a website isn’t matching what people are seeing in their real lives and more importantly the viewership numbers. NBA isn’t doing all these goofy all star changes, cups and play ins just to do it
For starters it wasn't just one poll, I provided two pieces of evidence which debunk the belief that the NBA is dying.

The first of which -
30% of Americans are fans of the NBA, up from 27% in 2019, a new report finds.
This is based on a YouGov research panel of 6+ million Americans. I think I'll trust that poll over nxggas on TheColi who have an axe to grind.

The second of which -
The number of U.S. Americans who played basketball at least once in a year reached 29.73 million people in 2023, continuing an increasing trend which began in 2016. Between 2016 and 2023, the number of basketball participants in the U.S. increased by 33 percent.
Between 2016 and 2023, the number of basketball participants in the U.S. increased by 33 percent (U.S. Americans who played basketball 2023 | Statista)
Or are you going to tell me that this 33% increase in the population playing basketball all don't follow the NBA?

Would you like more evidence?
  • With 210.2 million followers across social media platforms, the NBA league is the most popular sports league in the World.
  • This includes all professional leagues, individual and team, along with esports.
  • The NBA also has more social followers than any sports governing body including International Olympic Committee.

Driven by its multi-platform digital strategy, the NBA finished the 2022-23 regular season with record-breaking engagement across the NBA App, NBA League Pass and NBA social media accounts. Notably, @NBA on Instagram generated more than 13 billion video views this season, the most of any account on the platform. The league also amassed a record 32 billion video views across all NBA and NBA-related social media accounts, up more than 10% year-over-year, spurred by growth among young and international followers.

The NBA’s YouTube channel became the first professional sports league account to surpass 20 million subscribers and 12 billion lifetime video views on the platform. Every 90 days, the NBA reached more than 75 million unique viewers on YouTube who, on average, watched more than 35 minutes of content on the channel.

This is irrefutable proof that what y'all claim isn't reality, or are you going to tell me that the circles y'all move in are reflective of what's going on in the country and the rest of the world?

:usure:

Why do y'all keep talking about "viewership numbers" when y'all really mean TV ratings, which have absolutely no bearing on viewership. The evidence I've provided above is reflective of the actual viewership.

The NBA is making all these changes to keep engagement high because the game has grown at an exponential rate. The league just signed a $76 billion media rights deal, so it can't rest on its laurels and be complacent, it has to keep trying to find ways to be innovative (whether they are good methods or not is another argument, altogether).

This nikka posting all sorts of stupid shyt now …

Social media and YouTube video clips is not nba game viewership

You know, deal you’ve been dikksukking all day ? These tv channels didn’t pay 76 billion for people to watch THEIR games on YouTube clips - doofus

If anything this proves everybody’s point

People would rather watch a 3 minute run down then sit and waste 2.5 hours watching lazy defense and 3 point chucking

Masterful defense being played here

Jokic isn’t athletic

Simple as that

His game is respected and he’s skilled but nobody would say it’s exciting

Nobody’s tuning in to Nuggets games JUST to watch Jokic play other than Serbians

And that’s the main root of the hate….. he’s a foreigner dominating the game.

And he white so…:manny:

You are talking all this social media engagement but at the same time don’t want to use social media as a measuring stick of how people feel about the league when the complaints are talked about :mjlol: . People getting their dose of the league via social media isn’t good in the long term

You think the 60 stuck-in-the-past ass cats on this board is more reflective of the NBA fandom than the millions and millions of people who follow the NBA? Do you have any evidence that the echo chamber on here is how the rest of the country and world views today's NBA? Why is it y'all think that what is said on this board, where the demographic is 30-40+, somehow has their pulse on what fans like? Given that the utmost majority of Generation Z have no concept of 90s or 00s ball, do you think they long for the past like y'all do?

The younger generation consume all their entertainment through social media, and they're the biggest consumers of the NBA. That's just the way the world works now.

I don't know why y'all keep arguing against what is reality.

You don't have to like the product, but don't make the mistake thinking the rest of the NBA fans think like you do.
