How come Taylor Swift doesn’t have the same mass appeal to the Black community that previous white singers had?

Madonna actually had a video with a black dude portraying jesus, which took some balls to do in that era. Lets not compare her to swift....at all

She kissed black jesus' feet and everything. Old school madonna really didnt give a fukk

Taylor would never....
Yup. She deserves the N-Word pass that Nas gave to Gwyneth Paltrow. She lost her Pepsi endorsement over it. Gwyneth never put in the work that Madonna did. At her PEAK!

:salute:To the original pop PAWG.

And Taylor Swift is the music version of Jennifer Anniston: bland, non-threatening which makes her relatable. No “ethnic” white seasoning like Madonna or Gaga (Italian), or like Jennifer Lopez (spicy white).

Just straight up wonder bread, inoffensive tripe. But I respect her for not trying to pander. She knows her lane and sticks to it.

1. The Black Superproducer is dead in modern times. Back in the day you had the timbos, neptunes, jimmy jam and terry lewis, Darkchild and babyface who were giving hits to White Pop Artists. Who is their modern day counterpart? Metro Boomin? :mjlol:

2. White acts back in the day cut their teeth playing black hits and playing more mixed race/hip clubs. Hall and Oates were playing shows in Philly prior to blowing up. Madonna came up in the 80s East Village. Lady gaga came up in the LES club scene and first got in the industry working with Melly Mel (yes THEE Melly Mel). Point im making is that a lot of white artists got a ear and affinity for black music through being immersed in it at points in their career. TS got on working with country music song writers and playing country bars in the country ecosystem of Nashville :mjpls: nuff said.

Not to go off on a tangent, but I honestly believe that this is partly why a lot of young urban artists these days are SUPER mid/not that special.

They're frame of reference in regards to musical exposure is so damn limited that it's stifled their creativity. Even worse if they have younger parents that probably listen to the same music as them.
Yup!

This is interesting because even Paramore had a decent following in the Black community and they don't make "urban music". Yet you'll be hard pressed to see Black folks from all socioeconomic and national status that fukk with Taylor outside of a handful of songs . The only full Taylor albums I've listened to were 1989 and Midnights and other than that I draw a blank face to the rest of her music.

When did Paramore have a decent following in the Black community?

Was there a poll or something? :pachaha:

Can’t even say metro is their counterpart because he’s not making genre defining music and superproducers work with the best and get the best out of their artists (at their apex). Metro has worked with Drake and Future in terms of the best but that not saying much.

The best Drake stuff had other people behind the boards and Future makes the same shǐt over and over.

oh I agree that’s why I posted the laughing smiley. Metro is probably the closest thing to those guys and he isn’t anywhere in the stratosphere of their hits and diversity of soundscape. That’s my point, those types of guys don’t really exist anymore.

Bytch started out doing “country” music. Shyt ain’t rocket science

Exactly this. If she started out as pop she would have had more appeal. People who don’t listen to her music don’t really know she left country a long time ago.
