White racism will keep this from ever happing. You cant make the black man a hero to everyone only to other black people.
A black superhero will only apeal to us other races won't be into it.

BS, if you want to film a serious docudrama about a historic person, you must cast the actor who LOOKS and can PORTRAY the person well.

It be as stupid as Morgan Freeman portraying LINCOLN instead of DDL.

You have also contradicted yourself here. So a historic character can be betrayed by ANY race because the handlers of the medium has creative control and thus it's a form of art??

But cartoon characters like BATMAN has to remain white because of his old-money background, no matter WHO has creative control of the character :what:

Im done.
Explain how Bruce Wayne, a character consistently set in modern times, whose mythos is built on that fact that his family comes from a long line of old white money, could possibly be black, when his ancestors, who play a huge factor in the characters makeup, would come from times where it could not be possible for black people in America to acquire the wealth that would later translate into Bruce Wayne being able to do what he does.

You would be taking artistic license and liberties with the character the same way a white director would claim he is taking artistic liberties with casting a white person as a black person. There are white people in this country who claim Obama is "mixed" when they know damn well that 50 years ago he probably would'nt be able to sit in the same restaurants as some of the people who work for him. Years from now they will cast an italian person as Obama in a film and claim that Obama is not "black" and only identified as black and thus...artistic liberties can be taken with his skin tone and racial makeup. You can't pick and choose because it opens the floodgates and allows white people to take the very same liberties with forms of art that you are asking for. The fact that it's a comic book vs. a docudrama is a very thin line that can be crossed, especially in this day and age.

Did Robert Downey Jr. not just portray a white man who took on the role of a black man in a comedy film (Tropic Thunder) where the end result was him being praised for his performance? In real life AND in the films storyline?

Batman Beyond could be black.

I noticed white people were actually suggesting Idris Elba for Batman which was a first but I think Idris would have turned it down anyway since he believes he has a shot at James Bond after meeting the Bond producers. He apprantly had to pull out off Alex Cross in case it damaged his chances of being Bond :ehh:

Racism has nothing to do with this. I am black an would never want Batman turned black. Its not a good idea

and other races do like black characters he/she just has to be pushed properly

Look @ Hancock that movie made more than Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Iron Man 2 and Batman begins

and it didn't come out in 3D

If Static Shock had his own movie :ohlawd:

I'm a Static Shock fan but if Hollywood were to make this movie, there would be too much fukkery. The fact that there is the gang warfare element and he has dreads is just asking for Hollywood to mess around and set this in Chiraq.

i bet if the black panther movie cast a white guy yall would be screaming racist, reason he isnt black is because its to different from the comic book

I already explained this you fukking moron

The Black Panther being AFRICAN defines the CHARACTER

Batman=rich guy whose parents were killed, trains to become a masked vigilante
him being white does not define the character

only reason batman could not be black, because in your mind a black person could never be somebody that wealthy

King Arthur being white defines who the character is, you can't put a black person being King Arthur because thats not who the character is

The Spawn Movie had a white guy playing Spawn's best friend in the comic he was black
they obviously made the change because they needed a white good person for the white people in the audience to relate to
did it change the story NO
because his race didn't define the character

a better example would be Blade, you can make a blade white, and the narrative would not change
being black doesn't define his character
people would be upset because they aren't many black super heroes to begin with

Batman been around for how many years, that nikka is already iconic and you dumbasses talmbout they should make him black "just for the sake of being black"

foh with that dumbass shyt, nikkas like yall are the reason there's so many shytty indie movies where the whole concept is based around the characters being black :scusthov:

that shyt aint creative and nobodies gonna spend their money to see that shyt

Blade was prolly the only good black comic movie, spawn was straight asscheeks

Static Shock and Black Panther dont have big enough markets to warrant a movie they aren't anywhere near as popular as batman, spiderman, and supes

and it's mostly because the majority of comic book readers(white males) can't relate to nikka superheroes at all. and let one of the heroes encounter even ONE instance of racism the readers feel that white guilt and bash the writer for writing about (black)issues that they dont have to go through on a daily basis (they dont label their issues as "white people problems"...those are called "normal people problems")

and on the flip side you got white writers who's entire stories are based around an ethnic hero's ethnicity to the point where it feels like a gimmick :scusthov:

to be honest i couldn't even tell you what would need to happen for a black superhero to make a big enough splash in comics that it would get a movie :wow:

:mindblown: shyts crazy when you think about it

And that's one of if not THE most high profile wirter in comics talking about that shyt.

When he was alive he had a hard time getting work and when he did get high profile work a bunch of fans would consistently shyt on him and try to convince other people not to buy his stuff. Then after he died suddenly everybody wanted to praise him after the fact when before they stayed shytting on him.

*edit*

Actually, here's a tribute some of McDuffie's friends did for him that directly addresses what I'm talking about:

Dwayne-Comic-01.jpg

Dwayne-Comic-02.jpg

I was reading some stuff up about him when I came back to this thread and read some one say he, 'passed' like legitimately this dude was changing the entire landscape of the game and he just died like that.

:damn: The African American can't catch a break.

NO shyt, his best friend is black in the comics and white in the movies what part of that don't you understand

You stated nowhere that Spawn was portrayed by a black man in the movie. So you can get outta here with that 'no shyt' trash with your censored trash style of surfing these forums.
