Et in Arcadia ego...
The tire industry make tires that last 50,000 miles when they easily make tires that last 500,000 miles
Its 2013 and we are still using internal combustion engines that require oil/fuel
Medicines only temporarily relieve ailments
why would you think sofware would be any different
why would you think the software industry is any different
stop being glib
Most people only drive around what, 12,000 miles a year, so a tire only lasting 4 years, or 50,000 miles isn't unreasonable. From a business standpoint, a business has no incentive to make a tire that can last 6-8 years, as that would cut into their sells exponenitally, and they would have to have a lower workforce, which would mean more people would be out of work, which would mean less spending on durable goods, depressing the economy. Now if a company released tires that they knew were defective to a unsuspecting public, I would think that is more analogous to Microsoft releasing software that they knew weren't up to par.
