You don’t want to live in spring or cypress if you will be working on the west. Traffic to and from work will be horrible

Not the west side of Houston -- my bad if I wasn't clear -- I mean west of Houston proper as in the Cypress area, i.e. the commute sends me further west of actual Houston onto U.S. 290. Would have preferred to live in Cypress but I didn't find a lot of spots I was overly happy with when you bring price into the equation. Every time I've been out there traffic's been :ehh: compared to actual Houston (:damn:) but I am no expert.

I'm from the Northside the crime in Spring/Spring Branch is getting bad.People are stealing truck rims and breaking in houses. Its quiet but keep your head on a swivel .Mexicans are deep out there too

See above. Wouldn't be in Spring Branch. But noted about Spring proper.

No one outside of the AA community in Houston has ever really contributed to cultural identity of the city.

Think about it:

First music scene- Blues

Oldest park- Emancipation Park(oldest in TX as well)

Most popular music scene- Hip Hop

Signature music style
- Chopped and Screwed

Signature car culture- Slabs

Signature college sporting event- Labour Day Classic

Signature narcotic- Drank

Signature BBQ style- (South)East TX, which is firmly rooted in AA traditions

At least 3 of the 10 most popular nicknames, including the #1 most popular nickname for the city(H town) were coined by the urban AA community.
Best of Houston: 10 Best Nicknames for Houston

We even got McDonalds using the word "trill" on their billboards in the city.

Two of the most successful record labels to ever come out of the city Peacock-Duke and Rap-a-lot were both born out of the AA community.

Sam Lightnin Hopkins Is the only musician to have a dedicated TX heritage site.

Juneteenth was born here.

Culturally H-town is Detroit.

And we can add the biggest music fest in the city(Astroworld) comes from us as well.

:patrice:

So, black(aados) is the only community in the city that has a distinct "houstonian" accent?
Seeking The Possibly Inaudible: Is There a Houston Accent?

I keep telling y'all. We ain't just "a" culture in the city. We are THE culture of the city. Pretty much everything that's distinctly "houstonian" comes from us.

*Though, to be honest. I'd say the h-town black accent is more generally a SETXn black accent. Black houstonians are hard to distinguish from black folks in the golden triangle(bmt,pa,orange) linguistically. H-town is in SETX though.

White ppl in bmt atleast have southern/texan accents though, unlike in H-town. :pachaha:

I would move to Houston just for the culture and food. However I wouldn’t want my children to have a terrible Houston accent.
