Houston so full of out of towners now truthfully you don’t hear the accent like you used to. I look at my generation compared to my kids and we talk way more southern/country than them. Just something I noticed. Houston is night and day from what it was in the 90s but time changes things and I get it. Hell they just cancelled the Mad Hatta Morning show because from what I heard the station wants a younger vibe etc and that show was like a Houston staple. lol this part of getting old sucks watching everything familiar to you die out./move on.

The only native Houstonians with a distinctive regional accents are the black(aados) ones. Whites and others don't have any specific houstonian accent.

And it might not be as prevalent in the suburbs or outlining regions, but that shyt is still alive and well deep in the historical black neighborhoods like the wards, sunnyside, studewood, 44, trinity and kashmere etc etc

Also, Houston is full because of immigrants from other countries, not out of towners.

And damn I didn't know that canceled MHMS. Ain't listened to magic 102 in a while. Shame.

black Houstonians of lou creole ancestry are of a mix of TXn non-creole and Lou creole ancestry and so is our culture which is pretty much just Houston's black culture at this point. There's no distinctly "creole" culture or community in Houston separate from the rest of the African-American community in Houston.

Like I said, only in black Houston do bbq and gumbo go together.
Local barbecue joints offer gumbo on the menu

Wait, they canceled Madd Hatta?!????

Smh. They better not replace it with no syndicated bull$hit.

Probably gon be some generic syndicated shyt. I'd rather them keep it local.

But, as long as it's aados owned/run, I'll be ight, I guess.

I’m tryna go to Houston for Juneteenth what’s there to do around that time

Emancipation Park, and around TSU(it's all 3rd ward) is were you want to be at to experience that.

Juneteenth is experiencing a renaissance in recent years. It went from being a tradition that only old folks were interested it to a lot of youth starting to get involved now.

Say less I’m there.

any festivals or events also going during that time?

Also What about the nightlife? I’m more into dancehall or afrobeats than hip hop but I’m down to go to a hip hop club too if it’s legit and poppin.
