And Rhaenyra even says for her to maintain distance and stay high up for safety.Speaking of dummy missions, why send Baela to fly over Kings Landing like nikkas ain’t declare war, got 3 dragons flying around out there and scorpion arrows

Ideally Arryk gets out just like he got in, kill Rhaenyra while she's supposed to be asleep so no one notices her missing and use that window of opportunity to walk out since no one would question Erryk. The hand maiden was an added factor but killing her would've been easy.
The issue was Aegon/Cole just sent him without doing any kind of legwork, common sense says wait until they get the drop on dragtonstone patterns and tendencies before using that strategy.
It just shows how none of these people are ready for the war they're in, Aemond is supposed to be the best of them - philosopher/historian/warrior and he might've made the biggest fukk up of them all

In the book it was a different side mission that he was sent on but I see why they changed it. I think the show writers want to make Cole look like trash Hand who’s too emotional to make smart decisions which could fuk him up in the long run
