As people have pointed out, main issue with this show is that it has a lot of writing/acting with inferior writing/acting compared to GoT S1-4. A lot of scenes are just a bunch of wheel-spinning.

It also has two character issues - one, there are too many characters, and a lot of them are underdeveloped and their actors are mediocre and two, there are very few, interesting AND likeable characters. All the interesting characters - Aegon, Daemon, Larys - are just a$$holes.

It feels like a continuation of the bad writing from season 7 GOT. The casting is off too. I don't find Rhaenyra's actress a good actress for the part. It may just be the bad writing. Larys, Otto and Daemon's actors for the part. Bad writing has made them ineffectual this season. There isn't much character development this season either. No way should episode 6 should have been episode 6 with an 8 episode season. I really feel like they dropped the ball this season. Episode 4 was the only good episode.

Was the Rhaenyra kiss in the books? I didn't feel the tension between the two that they have feelings like that for one another. The scene really felt force and it seems possible the actress added that scene .

I think the main issue is the show hasn't really built up the supporting characters like the og show did. I think when you have an episode like this you don't really care about the bits of dialogue that happens and potential chess moves happening. I feel we didn't really earn that with this series so far. It's why something like the Larys scene last episode worked because they've built him up well.
