got a call for three nines
Sudan is such an interesting factor in all this. We already have a land dispute with them and the refugees are going to a very remote and volatile part of Sudan.

What’s crazy to me is that Al Jazeera Arabic somehow is in Tigray right now and has been sending reports to AJE. Considering how other outlets have had issues this is both hilarious and timely.

Are there still small conflicts going on in Sudan? I’m honestly shocked they still have a million refugees. Really fukked up.

What do you think is going on with AJ?

That’s an old CIA dossier from 1984 describing the back and forth that’s gone on between Addis Ababa and Khartoum just to give you an example of how close each plays the other. They played a hand in the other losing valuable territory. Really interesting to read seeing how things turned out.

Sudan has similar issues as Ethiopia. Lots of IDPs (each have a million), fragile transitional government passing reforms attempting to appease the young and dissatisfied masses, land disputes with neighboring countries. I’m not sure if South Kordofan has been resolved or if Darfur has been resolved. But I do know regarding this particular topic Ethiopia and Sudan have a highly militarized frontier at the Fashqa triangle where skirmishes took place just this past summer. So Sudan, though weak, is going to try to utilize the situation to their advantage.

Another memo discussing the TPLF when they were still a guerillas movement. Shows how close they were to the Eritreans and just how much they actually owed to them despite them acting as though they overthrew Mengistu alone. The Eritreans are a major reason why Ethiopia was freed from the Derg.

AJArabic has the deepest reach in the region for any international outlet in the region. Even in Somalia they’re regularly only international outlet filing reports from regional cities and towns.

Rebel leaders who inked deal with government return to Sudan

Current Sudanese Govt appears to have patched it up with some rebel groups, ala Abiy a few years ago, but still some holdouts left.

Breh, that shyt is amazing. AJ Arabic definitely proved they have real reach in the region. That reporter is comfortably doing his job within Tigray when all these Western outlets have no access.

:damn: that was fast. Either they withdrew to spare the town and start an insurgency or they collapsed.

I wanna wait until all outlets have reported this. This shyt has felt more and more like a he say/she say situation as the weeks have gone by. But great news if so, but like your said they just as easily could be retreating to the bush to start an insurgency and guerilla campaign.

Edit: Al Jazeera just reported it. Gettin them crooks out the paint :wow:

Ethiopia: National pride, national shame

Probably one of the best most unbiased articles I’ve ever read regarding Ethiopia and the current conflict.

@thatrapsfan @FAH1223 @Trajan @JDH @Enzo yall know about The Africa Report? Their Red Sea dossier is a fantastic read I highly recommend these guys.
Thanks I'll read the article. Yh I already read the first two articles in the red sea series but I thought it was pretty basic and the analysis was rather shallow. I'll probably read the rest too though

:mjlol: I don't think people who aren't eritrean know just how true that last tweet is

I’d say the articles are good for a first timer to the region. I just like how the articles they write are fairly unbiased and informed.

The international media needs to know more about how dusty woyane nikkaz owe everything to Isaias and EPLF. Wouldn’t be no guerilla resistance without Eritrea.
