I got a lot of uncles and big cousins who didn’t make it out the 90’s they were either killed or sitting behind bars forever for killing

Fort worth Texas got over 200 murders one year and it's population was of 400,000. To put that in perspective st Louis is the murder cap of the modern day with about the same number of homicides and a similar population size.

It's definitely something to think about because many researchers living in the comfort of safe, economically stable and largely homogeneous environments can easily analyze data and skew the assumptions, by not having the proper context regarding the severity and multitude of forces that contribute to catastrophic outcomes in marginalized communities of color.

LA the city only had 1000 of them. So that means suburbs of la had another 1500 homicides. LA might be the first city to have extremely violent suburbs. Even to this day I don't think no city has suburbs as violent as la.

LA proper, aint that big. And it depends on what you quantify as the suburbs.

Places like Lynnwood, Gardena, or Paramount might be considered the suburbs, but they're still areas where gangs are active.

In reality I also think the size of your city counts as well.

I could imagine a more dense city with a lot murders probably feels more crazier than a city is that spaced out.

When there's no traffic you can move from one end of LA to other in like 5-10minutes on the freeway

Now driving from one end of LA County to the other end can take 30-45 minutes when its clear.

LA is a sprawl fam. It's not small. Small is Philadelphia, DC, even St. Louis.
LA is smaller than ppl think who confuse the city with the county as a whole but it's definitely not a super condensed city like other places

Just checked google and the city limits has over 100 more square miles than NYC. I drove to LA before. You sure it just doesn’t depend on what direction you’re driving in?

For example in manhattan with no traffic you can drive from east to west in probably less than 5 minutes.

Driving North to South is a different story.
