Mo' Thugs - It's All Good was a good bass song and still is better than any song that's been out in the past 16 years.

I blame Puffy and Jay-Z for creating an imbalance in the culture of Hip-Hop on a large scale that is now beyond repairable.

NaS is my mans, but he is a ringleader too.

Yeah, when Puff started to show off that you had to have a street edge, flashy cars, hoes, and bragging about materialism as a requirement instead of skill, Rap never been the same. It tainted the view of life in general. Now people wanted to have platinum instead of gold chains, people wanted bentleys instead of Jettas and Acura Legends, and so on.

1998 my girlfriend was a big Tupac fan so we take this trip to DC to go to her granothes funeral

I'm playing all my NYC shyt cause at that time i was an EAST COAST FIEND i.e (nas..dj clue..jay-z)

So she wants me to play the Machevelli album while I'm driving ..I'm like okay ..i never heard the full album

after playing the ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND track

Hoe ass nikkas tryna make a quick buck killed Hip-Hop ...from the Franchize Boyz it was down hill, like Nas said, it went stale.

Magna Carta Holy Grail was the nail in the coffin, Jay-Z made it clear "white people's opinions matter in Hip-Hop". Which is why Macklemore took home that award.
Preach brotha.
Honorable with another classic thread. But u guys know dope music is still being made, not just on a mainstream level. But continue to cook everyone is on point, i couldn't said it was better

I mean youre kind of saying the gender dynamic at bars/clubs singlehandledly set the course for the future of hip hop

Either that, or that women are the tastemakers/consumers. That doesnt make sense though.. why would women be more likely to purchase records??

Bottom line is nikkas need to start buying albums. Once Napster hit and every guy with a computer stopped buying records they naturally shifted their attention to the audience that was still parting with their dough......white people and women.

people still bought albums when napster was out.
the problem is,..the industry continued to create low quality signing and low quality product.
so, it damaged their selling point to their product.

to where we are, now.

Man, you're talking about musical TRADITION of paying homage while adding your own flavor, that's called an "ILL RENDITION".

Are you talking about "Hate Me Now"?, with a video that infused fashion and cinema? Hype Williams was able to charge 6-7 million dollars a video back then.
How is that eroding the mechanism of culture? Or the Hip-Hip INDUSTRY? Film, fashion and music all GOT PAID...BIG BUCKS.

Jay-Z put on TOM FORD, GWENETH PALTROW and JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE... LL Cool J and Russell Simmons are official QUEENS HUSTLERS...put on BLACKS "FOR US BY US...ON THE LOW" ...had cacs clappin' in the video like "yeah, yeah, LL COOL ****** (whatever your name is), just say "the Gap" and make US some paper" wearing FUBU

C'mon Art Barr I thought you were one the Coli's finest B? LL and Flex were droppin' science "Ask Russell Simmons who put him up in the skyscrapper, ask my dawgs at FUBU who made them MAJOR"

What happened to Cannibus?

you need to search for my content on ll.
before you deflect, on a convo about nas onto ll.
as, ll has actually apologized publically for his direction, over a decade ago.
nas, on the other hand.
made a record called who killed't it.
while, hiding his hands of blame.
while also,......schmooze'n up to the next jiggy nikka, after puff.

so spare me,..
your deflection and attempt to save nas.

nas is the darth vader of rap.
