It's a disservice to say ska was jacked directly from Motown, when Mento has always existed. I wont say it was influenced, but to say it was a flip on American music is not all the way true.

Mento
is a style of Jamaican folk music that predates and has greatly influenced ska and reggae music. It is a fusion of African rhythmic elements and European elements, which reached peak popularity in the 1940s and 1950s

Plus all our music is coming from Africa, so are both Jamaicans and black.Americans culturally appropriating?

When is the cut off from who created what?

Herc Is the godfather of da culture
This is not debatable so don’t even waste your time trying to address this

Couldn't be Herc since Grandmaster Flowers was the originator of his entire repertoire (scratching, looping, etc.) in the late 60's. He also influenced Grandmaster Flash before Herc. All Herc did in '73 was use what they already created and made it louder because he had more money to buy better equipment.....

Chuck is or was a Pan Africanists. They seem to let a lot of bullshyt fly when it comes to slander and leech behavior when it comes to Black Americans.

In what way are Jamaicans the foundation? Explain the dancehall connection .

I always saw Chuck D as pro black rather than Pan Africanist, what’s the opposite of a Pan Africanist? A Pan European? Lol...

I wouldn’t be able to explain because I know Hip Hop is an AA genre.

Hip Hop came from Funk music tho, which is older than dancehall last I’ve checked:mjlol:

ADOS New Yorkers during the 70’s weren’t even fukking with Jamaican music or Jamaican culture for that matter other than maybe a few Bob Marley joints and that would’ve been more so due to the fact that dude was a “Man of the People” type figure in the same vein as Muhammad Ali. Most nikkas were mainly crankin to Funk, Motown, and Disco at them block parties.

A lotta Jamaican nikkas stay tryna claim dancehall jumpstarted Hip Hop but couldn’t pinpoint a single record that kicked things off. Whereas it’s more than enough Funk records that can be traced to being the origins of Hip Hop….Hell, James Brown originated Hip Hop’s whole style. That nikka practically gave us Hip Hop, Rock n Roll, House music, Motown, New Jack Swing, Funk, GoGo, Contemporary R&B, Reggae, Disco, Pop, and Michael Jackson :wow:

Better ask Kool Herc what he thinks of James Brown and his hand in Hip Hop’s existence. fukk the dumb shyt.
